Description My shiny new character reference sheet for

Name: Delwin
Height: 4'10" (That's at the top of his head, not the shoulder)
Age: 6 years
Gender: Male
Town: Morran Forest
Personality: Playful, quiet, slightly devious and inquisitive. Likes nonsense words and sparkly things.

Additional notes: DO NOT draw Delwin in sexual situations. He is six years old. That would be akin to child pornography. Gross and very, very wrong.
I doubt it'll be an issue, but I still wanted to get that said.

At six years old, Delwin is able to carry on basic conversations, express his wants and needs, and understand simple concepts of morality. On the other hand he is a young child and his sense of fairness may be weighted toward self-centeredness. He is also likely to test and push boundaries with anyone who seems like they'll let him, trying to find out what's acceptable to get away with. This is just normal kid learning-how-the-world-works, but that's what's meant by 'slightly devious'.

Delwin's tattoos are centaur writing, and were put on him, his parents, and his older brother when his family was exiled for wrong-doing. Being a toddler at the time, Delwin really had nothing to do with it, and couldn't explain what his parents did wrong anyway. His family subsequently moved to a run-down abandoned part of the city, which was sometimes roamed by giant carnivorous wyrms. It was a dangerous and terrible place to live. Roughly a year ago his family was attacked and killed, and only Delwin escaped by virtue of being the smallest and well hidden. He has since been surviving by scrounging and left-over food, and recovered a few bones of family members abandoned by the wyrms.
The trauma and isolation have left him developmentally a little stunted. He's good at hiding, tends to be quiet (noise attracts predators), and does not seem to have emotionally processed that his family is dead. He talks to their bones, and plays and sleeps when he feels like it. His personality remains upbeat and curious despite his situation.

Landing in Hetherev Delwin's memory of his past is fuzzy, but he has some small skills allowing him to scrounge and survive on his own. He is afraid of 'big lizards', although positive experiences with draconic types may change this.

Feel free to drop me a line if you want to draw Delwin, but I love fanart so I won't be bothered if you draw first and show it to me later or something. I also apologize in advance for his markings. So many spots and stripes! The more perfectionist may notice some consistency on his ref sheet, but as long as you get spots on the body and stripes on the legs, it's all good.

Awww he is just so adorable. And what great grasp on anatomy you have!

What does the writing say? Or will we be finding that out in the future?

Thanks! I'm good at horse anatomy because I used to be horse crazy, and I use a lot of photo reference. Children anatomy is a big struggle, though.

The tattoos say something about his family's exile and what his parents did to get their family cast out, but I've really never worked it out in more detail than that. Delwin himself can't read it, because he just plain never learned.

Thanks so much! It helps that he's a character I've had kicking around for a while.

This is definitely the best I've drawn him, although I'm not completely happy with his face close-ups. His markings have been pretty consistent from his very first design . (Just excuse the inexplicable anime-ness. Plus the fact it was drawn seven years ago.)

That's awesome! He has a very neat design- and still just as great seven years later. He has a very interesting backstory to boot as well.

I hope he's better, seven years later. ;D Backstory is partly because did play him before, a little. It makes him easier to play now.

aww XD This came out great, and I don't think his markings are too complex. The spots and stripes are cleverly mixed. But what a harsh life ;_; *cuddle*

I was definitely going for appaloosa markings, he even has the vertically striped hooves.
The character was originally for a very random semi-post-apocalyptic one-on-one RP. The city full of wyrms was my girlfriend's idea, and I didn't want to play his whole family, so... tragedy! It's terrible, the things we put our characters through, sometimes. He's at a resilient age though.

This little guy is too cute! The mix of little kid and lanky foal is perfect!

Would you believe I had more trouble with the little kid part? I had to go find some stock photography of a kid the right age for face reference. The foal part is more fun, to me, but I used to be horse crazy as a kid...
