this
picture
is
beautiful!
I think you could sharpen the trees a bit though, no? Or are they just out of focus? Still, so serene

Believe me, no one would be disturbed by the blurry trees if you didn't say it. Other than this the photo is more than great!!!

when I saw that one first I thought that it was a manipulation cause it looks so mystical like a scene from the lord of the rings or something, definitely worth a favourite

This area is certainly deserving of being in a movie like LotR. Very mystical place. Thanks!

That's near Havasupai, arguably one of the coolest areas in the Grand Canyon.

wowo it's so coool
how did u get the soft water/mist effect??
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
Rhavethstine In reply to yo-na [2006-06-30 01:45:54 +0000 UTC]
That comes from a long exposure. The shutter remained open for several seconds on this shot, which gives you the silky effect as the water rolls on by. Thanks for all the comments.

Truly Amazing! Could you tell me what sort of exposure time you used? and did you use any sort of darkening filter to make a really long exposure more possible? Thanks.

Rhavethstine In reply to cubanheels [2006-04-28 05:22:39 +0000 UTC]
It was entirely too long, at 25 seconds. I think the only thing I had on my lens at the time was a polarizing filter. In addition, I had my ISO set to the lowest setting and my aperture stopped way down. Nothing too special. It was mostly the landscape that did the work.

Yes! I've since gotten better about watching for stuff like blurred grass/trees/whathaveyou, but it's certainly annoying when the wind doesn't want to cooperate.
Thanks!

Long exposures will naturally enhance colors like these, but seriously, the first time you see the lake at Havasu Falls, you're in disbelief. This is no exaggeration. Search "Havasu Falls" and you'll come across a million images very similar mine.

Nicely done! I've hiked Havasu twice, so I'm pretty familiar with that place Was it crowded with people as it usually seems to be?

Rhavethstine In reply to vetsac [2005-09-29 05:57:19 +0000 UTC]
Yep. Very crowded, with it being a weekend and all. But I managed to discover how to get on top of Navajo falls this time around and there were no signs of people having been there for a good while. Had the place all to myself. There was a very magical atmosphere up there.
