Description
Baseline male and female for Flo's species, which I am now going to name Mothuan (they can still be referred as moth for short). Just made some minor tweaks based on Flo's design and I'm content with these as a starting point for more variations in color and proportions.I have a full summary written for their species but I will save it for a sketchdump once I have compiled more drawings.
But I will leave some bullet points of the main concepts to give an idea of what to expect:
- Their home world is calledΒ Motakhnae and they are generally peaceful and sustain themselves on a diet consisting of plant matter and sweet fruits.
- Mothuans were uplifted from giant sentient plants known as Chims, who helped guide their culture from primitive tribes to an agrarian society and space-faring people.
- Due to their affinity with the Chims, Mothuan technological advancements are geared more towards ecology and agricultural science to grow food on new planets, leaving them with an underdeveloped military.
-Β Most Mothuans strongly disagree with over-exploitation of a planet.
- They prefer to be farmers and food scientists, but they also make decent merchants/traders and they're a common site in frontier settlements.

I myself never tried D&D, but I know of it and read up on a bit of the lore. I think it was about the tieflings, which I found interesting.

Who knows, I may even look into trying to make that a possibility.
Personally you may not use it in any way, shape or form, but you can leave some info on what I may like to know about these creatures (if you get to that point in time where you have enough info).
And it is not a guarantee either, I'm just saying it could be something to attempt and you should keep focusing on what you need to do.Β

Yeah I think so too, and they make cute squeaky noises. I find them cute along with honeybees ^^

Yeah in spite of their stingers Honey Bees are usually pretty docile.Β You kinda have to hurt em or accidentally piss them off to get stung.

Yeah, and for the most part they really don't want to sting unless they have to because if I'm not mistaken, they die afterwards right?

Yeah its a defensive weapon, but Africanized honey bees are much quicker to use it due to heightened aggressive tendencies in their genetics.Β They also breed quicker tho I could be wrong on that.

I read the name... and I'm pretty sure I mispronounced it.
See, the way I heard it was "Mothwahn"... like how a young human child trying to say "Mothron".

They are a very likable design. I like how they have appreciable gender differences and have a humanoid but not 'human but with doodads' design. Great work!

Just an observation based on the description, but they would bode rather well with the Alderaanians had they met. Speaking for the canon Alderaanians of course, not so sure about the Legends Alderaanians...
[EDIT] Also, I can only think of ways to make a badass warrior culture here.

Cool observation, and I would agree they may have gotten along well with the Alderaanians since Mothuans would rather deal with things peacefully rather than bloodshed too.
And interesting that you mention warrior culture- I'm playing around with the idea of a splinter faction of Mothuans known as "Mothuaks", essentially warlike tribes who did not entirely embrace the pacifist ideals of the Chims, and developed an opposing culture. I'll work on drawing them soon after I compile the base Mothuans concepts.

I have a knack for martial cultures. Hell, in the setting I'm making, the outline I had for most of the cultures in my setting were just a descriptor with "badass warriors"--just shows you my priorities. I'd be very willing to contribute to this faction.

Do they go through a larval stage?
Do they eat via a proboscis? And lastly are they nocturnal?

1. They do. The newborn larva would hatch from eggs laid from a female and then go through a brief cocoon stage emerging as young Mothuans. They would then grow and develop into adults over time, similar to humans.
2. No they do not. They have mouths on the underside of their head and chew what they eat.
3. No they are not nocturnal.Β
