Personality:

Vahn is very much the father figure, he likes teaching others and answering questions. Despite his eidetic memory for books and written material, he is sometimes rather forgetful usually misplacing small things and forgetting dates, parties etc. Usually soft-spoken and patient he can lose his temper if pushed far enough, but he isn't one for physical violence. Instead, he'll resort to lectures and long winded explanations.

History:

Vahn was an unwanted pregnancy, immediately given up by his parents he is unsure what his real family name is and only goes by the name given to him by an official at the hospital. He spent the next eighteen years in and out of foster homes, none of which ever worked out long term. As a fallback he retreated into books as an escape, developing an attachment to stories of all kinds and learning at a very young age that he could easily, and with alarming detail, recall nearly every bit of whatever he read.
After aging out of the foster care system at 18 he spent the next year homeless, begging and doing odd jobs to survive, traveling further and further from the city of his birth. During this time he wrote extensively, trying to retreat back into his world of stories, eventually writing and publishing 3 short children's books and 2 young adult novels, under a pen name. Unexpectedly successful in this Vahn earned enough from royalties to buy himself a decent wardrobe and rent a crappy little apartment, now 20 years old.
Meeting Aliia soon after he falls for her hard, asking her to marry him after only nine months together.
This lasted for another 2 years and 3 months, in that time she spent what little money he had saved and convinces Vahn he is infertile and that she would be leaving him for a man she'd been having an affair with.
Vahn is alone again at 23
The next 2 years are filled with bad decisions, heavy drinking and another stint of homelessness. It wasn't until he started contemplating theft to support himself that he decided to clean up his act, exercising an impressive amount of willpower to quit drinking and to find a steady job. Taking what little he had left from his book royalties Vahn found himself in Ivywood, happy for a fresh start and meeting his first real Pokemon companion a small malnourished Litleo that had been tied up and left just on the outskirts of town. After a week or two of sharing meals with her, they were inseparable and Vahn gave her the name Rona, meaning ‘my joy’

Landing a job at the Pokemon Daycare center he throws himself into his work, quickly proving himself to be a responsible and reliable worker he also volunteers at the Library 3 times a week and takes overflow from the Librarians, reading aloud to the local children, a substitute for the family he longs for and believes he will never have.

After a few months of working with the Daycare and volunteering at the same time, Vahn decides it's time for a switch and moves over to the Library full time
