Commander Shepard, Alliance Marine, N7 Graduate, First Human Spectre, Total Badass.My take on the Sole Survivor background, the one I usually roll with. After watching fifty heavily armed marines being torn apart by Thresher Maws, Shepard's the last man standing.

I think that the sole survivor Shepard is the one I think who would not think twice when given the choice by the Catalyst at the end of the trilogy. He would pull the trigger with ice cold precision and not give an inch to doubt, the mission comes first.

Does sole survivor Shepard laugh in the face of future thresher maws or does he get a chill down his spine from the bad memories, because those krogan sure do make him deal with thresher maws quite a bit

Sole Survivor is seriously the most interesting Shepard background in my opinion, so much so it actually makes me want to play it, but god forbid they make a prequel game like everyone else is, well that being said I'd like a battlefront game where we get to go through all the galaxy's previous wars like the morning wars and the rachni wars. Thats enough rambling.... Fucking Badass piece of artwork you made right there.

I took the Colonist, Hero background, I liked the take on someone who lost all the things that could hold him back, and fighting so hard so others wouldn't have to go through the same

One thing I love about the Sole Survivor background is its obscurity of what really happened on Akuze. It has the least amount of detail among the optional origins, which I think gives the player enormous amounts of room for roleplaying and getting inside their Shepard's head; understanding why s/he the decisions s/he does ingame.
A Sole Survivor could be anything from a coward who abanded his comrades to save his own skin to a hero desperatley trying to save them (perhaps nearly succeeding) but tragically failing in the end; with nothing but a few scars and the memories of slaughtered and mutilated corpses as reminder.

Nice work, Joshua! This one came out really well.
I love the contrst on either side; the blue of the thresher maw against the fire of the wreckage of the encounter. Then there's Shepard. You bloodied him up pretty well, didn't you? I would have loved to have seen the fight between him and the maw. But, we know who came out on top in the end.

While that list is indeed impressive, there is one thing that stops the commander dead in his/her tracks.
I'm talking of course.........about dancing!!!
Put the commander on the dance floor and he/she may as well be dead.

He actually wasn't the "sole" survivor. There was another survivor by the name of Corporal Toombs (Appropriate in my opinion).
