For more photos of the props/armour I've textured, and to see the shuriken in use, take a look through my Wai-con photos (My sister and I are cosplaying FFVII Yuffie & Tifa and their AC versions). [link]For tutorials on making the props & armour, I recommend Amethyst Angel's tutorials: [link] She does some amazing stuff!

So, my friend is doing an Aeris staff and she has it all done except the paint. We were both wondering if 1) This technique could be used for a staff and 2) If you have to sand PVC pipe to be able to paint it. We've heard a lot of things about the sand/don't sand styles of painting and we want to make sure her staff looks picture perfect. Your opinion would be amazing!
PS- I love all your work. You're one of my favorite artists on DA!!

So.. that's isn't a real weapon in the first place? Just foam and sheet plastic, and the hot glue? That's amazing! At first glance, I thought you were painting an actual metal weapon to make it look used.. Looks amazing!

I can't help but be amazed at how awesome the shuriken looks~ The way you made the blades look so sharp is so cool ; u ;
I'm trying to figure out how you made the triangular shape using foam board though... It's just so crisp xD

what is it made out of though? cardboard, metal, plastic?

Risachantag In reply to Bbox24 [2007-03-21 08:12:00 +0000 UTC]
This is made from plastic, though it would probably work on wood too. Cardboard probably wouldn't prove a good enough surface to paint on.

i don't even know why i said metal xD (the dumbness inside me) thanks though. i was also wondering if theres a different way to paint it when making a sword.
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
Risachantag In reply to Bbox24 [2007-03-21 10:17:19 +0000 UTC]
I've never done a sword, but I'd recommend using less weathering as the steel used for most swords is very good quality and won't rust as much.
