hey, i know it's a stupid question, but how do you set the line art to multiply?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

RizyuKaizen In reply to WarEmperor [2010-02-22 01:24:10 +0000 UTC]

If you look on the right side where you see the tab that says layers. You have to be on the lineart to do this but that drop down menu that days 'Normal' click on it and select multiply. that will make the white turn transparent while out it going away.

just one question
how do you go down a shade on a colour?
i have no idea and it would help me a lot

RizyuKaizen In reply to Gleadr [2010-02-03 22:27:58 +0000 UTC]

Click on the layer have it locked to just the pixels you have down and color away.

Gleadr In reply to RizyuKaizen [2010-02-04 03:34:18 +0000 UTC]

i think you misunderstood
i know how to do that its just that how do i know if ive gone down a shade or 2 with say the colour red?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

RizyuKaizen In reply to Gleadr [2010-02-04 06:36:26 +0000 UTC]

You need to make the colors darker or lighter depending on what direction of light your going.

Beautifully done! That helps me with shading, but now (unfortunately) I have another question. How do you figure out where to put the shading with the light source?
Sorry for my stupid question

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

RizyuKaizen In reply to night-wolf14 [2009-12-20 20:47:10 +0000 UTC]

Pick a direction to have the light coming from. If it helps make a cheesy sun on another layer so you know where your light is coming from. Once that is picked chose if the light is gonna be behind or more infront of them. =3

Great tutorial, very helpful! Of course, it would help if I had the 'real' Photoshop instead of Photoshop Elements, but...
It's a superb tutorial for someone who has decent knowledge of Photoshop. Great work!

By the way: is that Daisuke Niwa from D.N.Angel? If not, it certainly looks like him!

Wow. I can't believe that I guessed it - when I haven't read the manga in such a long time. Great illustration, though.

Great tutorial! This should work on photoshop 6 right?? P.S. Why does Daisuke look so sad?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

RizyuKaizen In reply to BlueSouledDragon [2008-11-03 22:28:00 +0000 UTC]

It should work. Possibly some of the tools used *IE the brush I think is either brush of pencil not all in one* are either marked differently or named differently. So yea.
I really dont know. I was gonna do another image to him but never got around to it. >^^<; If you had asked me 3 years ago I could have told ya but I dont know why I did that now.

Nice tutorial, could be helpful.

A suggestion though: Try to go into a bit more detail. You give absolutely no detail on how to shade or what tools to use. I'm not trying to be rude or anything, but this tutorial would be much more helpful if it had more detail to the instructions.

BTW, You're a really good artist/CGer (Cell-shader).

Great tutorial, but my GIMP program doesn't have a window showing all the layers, or maybe I just don't know how to view it...

RizyuKaizen In reply to Sarahsnewacct [2007-08-29 21:13:46 +0000 UTC]

I dont know. Photoshop its auto in coming up. May be look around in the main frame bar *like the one along the top for me* and see if there is something there similar to view or just flat out windows.

ignore my last comment, I finally figured out how to make the layer window appear. Now shading will be SO much easier.

I didn't find this helpful at all, because at no point did you say HOW you apply the shade. You just went over all the obvious things.

Right now, i use the polygon tool to draw an area i want to shade and then fill it in. But i'm guessing you are just using the paintbrush to draw on the shade? If that's the case, my hand isn't stedy enough and i'll have to stick to how i'm doing it.

Love your Tutorial! The colors you chose were so vibrant.

I've been trying to cell shade but I get all the base colors and layers to lock them off and from there out with the shading I'm oblivious. I don't understand how to get the crisp, straight, points, and such with each shade... I thought it might be the pen tool but I'm like "@____@"

i said it was a good tutorial but you never mentioned it was just for line art. so maybe you should have put Cell Shading Line Drawings as a title and not just cell shading.
