Description
I have always been a huge Jim Henson Fan and grew up with the Muppets. I FEAR puppets....but I LOVE the Muppets...weird.Anyways, Sam the Eagle was always hilarious. He is surrounded by all the "questionable" Muppets like Crazy Harry and Lew Zealand.
I kind of wanted to do more with Sam on this one, like have him look a little more exaggerated and tweaked.

OH JESUS I KNOW ABOUT EDGAR BERGEN!!!!! FREAKY!!!!! His character Mortimer Snerdly was TERRIFYING. My mom used to be afraid of him and his puppets too when she was little.
The scariest thing I have seen lately...A CAROL CHANNING VENTRILOQUIST DUMMY IN A TOY CATALOG.....WTF??????

Ha; that's awesome. Sam was always my favorite character, for some reason -- he's just so uptight and stiff. I love the pose in this, and all the characters around him.

This is great. I love that he's so completely surrounded by ridiculousness. Poor Sam. This does a great job of replicating the mood of the Muppets.

You gota love the old bird, he has been with some of the most insane muppets out there, and still is able to keep his back strait and his chest up high.

I have question maybe you can anwser about the muppet show; what season did Rizzo and the boomarang fish guy appear in?

I'm not sure....i know Steve Whitmire (the voice of Rizzo, and current Kermit voice) came in in the later seasons of the show...so probably like 3rd or 4th season....
I'm not sure when Lew Zealand came on....

If you check the Muppet Wiki,it says Lew Zealand first appeared in Season 3 and that the first puppet for him was made out of one of their multi-purpose Whatnots before he became a permanent character.

that is cool trivia! I never realized that the Count from Sesame Street was technically a what-not. He was several different chracters....the Amazing Mumford...Captain Vegetable...ect ect. Crazy.

You seem to have made Sweetums look evil...
Although Janice is, by far and away, the most terrifying and unsettling Muppet in that painting methinks.

Sweetums is kind of a friendly badass in a way....I had scary dreams about that brute when I was a little kid.

He acted mean but he's sweet underneath. Hence his helping Captain Smollett in the fight scene of Muppet's Treasure Island... And in his offering to sing a duet with Robin when erm Gonzo (?) couldn't do it...
I was quite surprised, whilst looking for the correct spelling of Smollett just now, to learn that he's now voiced by John Henson. I'd've thought it would've been Bill Barretta doing the voice. As he does most of the other larger creatures these days... Still at least they're keeping it in the family

I went on a tour round the Creature Shop in London a few years ago. There no Hensons there though. I did look. But they were busying themselves in New York apparently - which seemed a bit selfish to me

Man how awesome is this! I have a huge soft spot in my heart for the Muppets. I like the way you exagerated the character designs. Also anything incorporating Sweetums automatically earns my favor.

Sam is always the funny/serious one...looking at the rest like they were bunch of weridos which he says they are. XD. I get the fear/love of Muppets. You can't help it with them. Awesome work and very cute.
