A panoramic painting from one of my favorite Sci-fi films....This scene (or lack of scene) scared the crap out of me as a kid.

It's a good thing the Rancor died the next day, because Oola getting gabbled up by the beast may be a tragic death, but at least she was saved from a horrible fate of being turned into Rancor poop.

I'd have to agree; not seeing the monster at first was very scary because it left it to my imagination.
I still watched the part with Luke from under my seat, though!
Anyway, this is a great picture. It's got tons of detail and beautiful color. How did you make it? Colored pencil or actual paints? It's gorgeous either way.

This looks good overall, but I think the brilliance is in the details, I'm looking around seeing the things from the movie I remember, the red button on the wall, the skull on the floor, the massive door that ends the Rancor's life.
Oh, and great work on Oola's backside! Very sexy!

I remember watching this as a kid and not getting phazed, but more recently I watched Return of the Jedi and now I see the horror of it. I think it would be a terrifying experience to be trapped in a pit with a giant monster like that trying to eat you, the Wampa scene from Empire Strikes Back was scary too. Poor Oola, such a horrible way to go, if only Luke had gotten to Jabba's palace sooner.

I was really freaked by the Gammorean Guard getting eaten. I was 8 years old when i saw the movie in the theater. Still to this day, his squeeling makes me a bit sad...

Yeah, now when I watch Return of the Jedi when I watch the scenes where Oola (the slave girl) and the Gammorean get eaten and their cries of fear make me feel bad. I think it would have been amusing to see Jabba get eaten by a Rancor or other large beast. You know in the game Star Wars Bounty Hunter that Gardulla the Hutt had a pet Krayt Dragon and she fed people she didn't like to it like Jabba did with his Rancor and Jango shoved Gardulla into the Dragon's pen and she was gobbled up.

I have one of the Star Wars beasts books, and they show a giant Krayt dragon digging a Sarlaac out of the sand and eating it! That is one scary beast.

I think the Sarlacc would be too gentle though....He's just swallow him...the rancor would have to chew him up a bit, plus he's a messier eater...I'm sick....
BUT...Jabba would be digested over a thousand years in the Sarlacc, and the Hutts are long-lived...

Well even a human would remain alive all that time because of the Sarlaccs internal juices. I'd say that Jabba would still get pretty messy cuz he's be too big to get swallowed whole.
