Description The room and all the objects were made at a real scale. I worked on this scene from december 2003 until late june 2004. This image took 8 days, 8 hours, 49 minutes and 59 seconds to render.

I used radiosity, caustics (for the globe on the desk) and SSS (for the courtains).

Special thanks to Shademaster and Cinemike for suggestions and critiques during the creative process.

Be sure to also check out the second render .

I recommend you to view the "Making of Digital Morning" page which shows all the images I saved during the creative process.

probably similar to what you have, but I would have thought somone could find cooler hardware to model

I'm fascinated by this picture. There is an almost nauseating level of detail, almost too much to take in at once. It's definitely a far cry from the days of pixellated work where only 16 or so colors existed in a palette. OUTSTANDING!!! So, what's next?

The lighting could use some more samples, it looks really blotchy on the tower, and you can see the wood texture repeat multiple times on the sides.

...and February only has 28 days, not 30.

As you might expect... That was intentionally and on pupose made like that - i like to joke . And the box of discs being 1,4Gb is another joke. The computer time set to 23:11 ... and outside is morning, another joke. And now, a joke no one noticed: the mouse is a No Name brand .

I love the softness in this picture because it isn't too much or too little, wich makes it look more realistic.
And ah! Of course - the details! Too bad you can't zoom in, but it doesn't matter.. the details are amazing.

You have made a great mix betveen digital art and realistic.. blabla, I hope you know what I mean?

awsome but the reason it took 8 days to render is because your using such a crap processsor

Brilliant render, very nice work! I just don't understand why people take so long to create 3D work like this when it would be quicker and cheaper to construct a photoshoot! But hey, what do I know? Good work.

I've never seen anything like this before. It's totally cool. And as to it being "too perfect" well I see a mess of stuff under the desk lol My OCD eyes picked that up
and that is truly realistic (not on MY desk however )

Erythnul [2005-08-11 15:06:02 +0000 UTC]

In my opinion this piece has only one flaw: It's too perfect... It's all too perfect, nothing's damaged or even slightly scratched... Not realistic, they don't have a "real" sense for them, especially when in full-view...
Then again, you might want to take that criticism with a grain of salt seeing as this is a thing of beauty.

Oh, and february has 30 days now?

(I'm going to be kind of wierd here, so just be warned)
In all honestly, that the most fan-bloody-tastic piece of realism I've ever seen, though there are (at least up close) subtle differences that I think only a human who spends as much time sitting in a place much like that would notice.

But, it's still really, really wicked...'nuff said

I thought I was nuts because sometimes I make a vector drawing which I click on for 2500000 or something times. You must have, like me, a minor flaw in your brains. Absolutely stunning work!!

It looks good but the light shining through is too vivid, and where is hits the wall im sure would be more transparent. Also im unsure whether the light bouncing off the red cd case under the desk would reach that far and not be more diffused if it did. And back to the light entering through the blinds, i can't figure out why the diffusion is visible, it doesn't look like there is any dust in the room to bounce off of so it should be transparent instead of glowing.
