Digital Morning position 1

Description
The room and all the objects were made at a real scale. I worked on this scene from december 2003 until late june 2004. This image took 8 days, 8 hours, 49 minutes and 59 seconds to render.I used radiosity, caustics (for the globe on the desk) and SSS (for the courtains).
Special thanks to Shademaster and Cinemike for suggestions and critiques during the creative process.

i can't believe how awesome this looks..
what i really love is the little blue sparkly ball by the keyboard.. it sort of doesn't belong there. i'm not even sure what it is (haha) but it's like you're adding a little bit of other-worldliness to an otherwise realist piece.

Clearly there's SOMETHING wrong with this scene: NO DUST. And you should hook C4D up to Mental Ray (should be possible)

Heh.. WOW!!! =o I mean that looks great.. as for "Advanced Critique Encouraged" goes.. Ill try.. But I do think you might want to work with that corner.. it looks like 1) the very end of the wall with the callender kinda pops out.. Also with the same wall it kinda looks like it was just placed there to kinda seperate the room into 2 or something.. the backwall with the window looks as if it keeps going even after the wall stops.. ^^ but otherwise the rest of the pic is great.. My Fav was the lil globe thing you got there... that looks awsome! +fav

Mmm.....I don't know much about renders so I will say this;
Very good, thought It was real at first (and wondered why someone would take a photo of such a simple subject matter)....an impressive use and combination of filters, textures and lighting...
you have great potential ...but (no offence) why not extend your skills outside an office...
Sorry but i just thought that the subject matter could be a little more exciting.

We dedicated our time to make this image as photorealistic and as good as possible with the skills we had. We now can do better 
As for the render time, the image was done over a very long period (about 6 months of work) and 8 days of rendering did not seem that much for us. Also, you guys should take into consideration that the models and textures are VERY, VERY high quality.
Our patience wasn't affected by the render time

Your modelling skills are very good. Your texturing is fairly decent, but the surfaces still need tweaking, they all still feel virtual and don't feel like used objects. Maybe some specularity maps with scuffs and some slight bump textures? The lighting is pretty good, but I really dislike the look of the LEDs on the devices. They look very artificial. I very much like the desk. It feels just like the cheap laminated wood desks so many of us have.

It's pretty much perfect... but I dont find the shading on the calendar as convincingly realistic as the rest of the image.
And it doesnt appear to have anyting sticking it to the wall.
But all and all, the details, the presicion... its pretty effing cool.

OMFG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! wow. I seriosuly though this was jsut a photo taken of a desk, until i read, "rendered" and i was like WTF!!!!!!!! Holy shit nice job. WAY out of my league.
