Be sure to also check out the second render .

I recommend you to view the "Making of Digital Morning" page which shows all the images I saved during the creative process.

Wow, I thought this was from photography Hell, advanced critique? Hell of a nice job on the curtains, those don't looke like they were rendered at all (as does practically everything else here). The calendar is also life-like and picture perfect, nice job on that. The moniter looks fabulous as well, nice job on the desktop. The only thing that I can see "wrong" ( I use that term extremely, extremely loosely) are the two speakers. The one on the left isn't bad but the one on the right seems a tad...flat? I don't know what word i'm lookin for here but theres just something about it, its left side seems a little..outwards as opposed to going striaght back (did that make any sense?). I don't know, aside from that one tiny thing this is seriously some talented effort. Magnificent job over all.

Amazing. But that snow globe (if thats what that blue orb is) is a bit too shiny to not have its own light source.

Amazing though.

Now for my critiquing.

I think the next biggest challenge would definitely be more realism - Surface aspects, more detail to the letters on the keyboard, a definite reflection to the monitor since it doesn't seem to be an LSD display I'm looking at. Clutter would rock. Maybe any signs of usage at all.

Now that you've got most of the good stuff mastered, now it's time to get out your attention to detail and struggle with it. I'd LOVE to see detail! It's what I actually look for FIRST.

wow! thats amazing, all the more so because it is such a mundane subject, It took me ages to bother clicking on it because I did'nt realise it was'nt a photograph! The only critiscism i have is that the textue on the speakers frontage lacks enough white to black contrast to give it realistic depth. But, at the same time, I only noticed this because I could'nt stop looking at the amazing attention to detail throughout

First, I commend ANYONE who is willing, able, and actually DOES put in real time into a work of art. I'm honestly sick and tired of seeing artwork that takes... 5 minutes, 3 hours, etc. Rarely is there work that honest to goodness time and effort is put into (in my experience.)

Secondly, this work is AMAZING!! I'm sure you already hear that alot but it doesn't hurt to hear it from yet another admirer. My friend Justin is also an up and rising 3d graphic artist in the works. And this, by any means, will stun him completely and I think, will give him alot of hope and inspiration for HIS future.

I was so moved and impressed by this I not only faved it but I'm going to add you to devwatch, and I hope you don't mind that I made it my new desktop wallpaper. It's the least I could do. Thank you for this! As it is, I can't thank you enough!

This is absolutely phenominal, DEFINITLY deserved the DD. I love the texuture of everything, the wood, the plastic, especialy the felt on the speakers, and all the little details, like the stuff under the desk and the calander. That said, I do have a few critiqes. Several portions, specificly the keys on the keybord and the external drives on the computer, look flat. I'd assume this is because they are images, but in my mind, they are quite detracting if you're looking closely at everything.

Anyways, overall, great, great job.

robodesign In reply to gemstones [2005-08-11 19:11:45 +0000 UTC]

The keys are actually 3D objects, each of them. The keyboard is not a fake texture. It's entirely 3D modelling. Due to the way the lighting setup ended up, the keys may seem flat (and other parts you mentioned).

Is the keyboard one of those with flat keytops, or did you not make the keys cupped as they are typically.

the render is quite nice and the detail is amazing. Must have taken ages to model and texture that.
But that brings me to the question, that comes to my mind the first moment i saw this pic:
Why does someone spend this high amount of time and energy, for such an -sorry- ugly motif?
