Description
This was taken two summers ago by my oldest son, Brian Emerson, at Great Northern Flats, a popular landing spot for rafters on the Northfork of the Flathead River. This area was hit by the Robert Fire, which jumped the river and burned its way through Glacier National Park a few years ago. Fortunately, life is starting to recover. The air was smoky, though, because there were other new forest fires burning at the time.Featured in JocelyneR's journal .

There's some really nice imagery here with the burnt trees and the wildflowers. The trees almost look like a bunch of spikes driven into the ground.

Nice Shot. Reminds me of back home when the same thing hit Yellowstone.

Thanks! I didn't know that Yellowstone had a forest fire. I'm terribly underinformed.

This is a unique and special photo...
and from your comments makes me think of the resilience of Earth despite some of the awful things that are done to it, whether by humans or natural disaster.

Thanks! People got so upset when the Park burned, but it seems to be coming back, and the nutrients from the fire make the wild mushrooms and huckleberries grow better than they did before.

Thanks! It's still our favorite place to get away, even with the burned trees.
