Description
Big, big file. Also, I use photoshop elements 7. I don't know how this would work in gimp or other programs, I'm sorry. Please ask if you're unsure about something - I'm not very practiced at making tutorials.
I like making my own textures, and I like art nouvou. Somehow I ended up combining those two while trying to recreate a kaldeiscope filter and this method was born. Ever since I've used the effect for fun, and I had a friend over earlier who was interested, upon learning that I made the design myself, how I did it. I wrote up a tutorial because of her.
The main trick to this is experimentation. It can be done with a mouse as well as a tablet, or pen tool.
I'm aware that, as far as graphic design goes, this piece is not a master peice. I kind of hate the bottom actually, but I wanted a tutorial that was simple and didn't clash color wise, so I think I succeeded in that.
Examples
[link] I used this technique for the magic circle at her feet, and the background texture.
Thanks for reading~!

I'm glad. Hmm... There's a great traditional media one for that on here, actually. Tribal style stuff is a similar concept, also with great tutorials. But, if it's just for one project or two, I can totally understand using this~... Though, now I want to try making knot work using this.
Have fun!

Oooh thank you! I've been wondering how to do patterns like these without driving myself insane. Very cool and easy to follow!
