Description ***Free to use, for non-profit/non-commercial purposes.***

I made this map for the Dungeons and Dragon's game I am running (5th edition). Here is a simple, larger crypt that I used for a forgotten king, located in an ancient cemetery that had been consumed in a swamp. Fun times! I left the details pretty open on this one, so you could put what you want, where you want. Makes it easier to reuse for different purposes.

***PRINTING METHODS***
Printing a map this size on one sheet requires poster sized prints, which is really expensive. It can run anywhere from $40-$100 or more, in some places. However, if you print them onto several sheets of regular printer paper and tape them together, it's much cheaper, usually only costing a few dollars. here's how I do it:

1. Download a program called PosteRazor. It's a freeware program that can output a PDF file that separates a larger image into smaller sections that can be printed on regular sized paper. Here's the link: posterazor.sourceforge.net/

2. Upload the map image file into PosteRazor, and choose your settings based on your desired output. You can select the papersize (I choose US Letter size), printer margins, overlapping size (for where individual sheets meet), image size/scale, and image alignment. The last step, once you have the settings how you want them, is to export it into a PDF document, for print.

3. Take/send your PDF file to your local print shop, and ask them to print each page of the PDF file on your chosen paper size (I use US Letter size). Paper size must be the same as whatever you chose in PosteRazor.

4. Take the printed sheets home and use a hobby knife and a ruler (or scissors, if that's all you have), and trim off the white borders where the image was not printed, on each sheet.

5. Tape the trimmed sheets together, where they match on the printed image.

omg... looks great. I just started making a campaign, maps, tokens a few days ago myself. Been playing 5e and 5e with 3.5 conversions for the last few weeks. roll20 has been more fun than most video games lately. I've been using zbrush, wish I photoshopped better to get real clean maps like this!

RoninDude In reply to DarksealStudios [2018-01-13 21:36:07 +0000 UTC]

You mean, sell the campaign to your players? As in, hook them?

DarksealStudios In reply to RoninDude [2018-01-14 04:20:45 +0000 UTC]

no, no, not to my players, they would be the alpha test. But, once it's "finished" to pack it all up for sale. This last week (between sessions) I've been making maps, tokens, story, etc... But then I actually read the roll20 stuff... had to make my maps 3x larger (rerender my zbrush source content), add drop shadows, etc... I'm inexperienced but trying to make it happen!

I love the colors on this one! Reminds me of Sunless Sea. Just needs some rocky formations along the edges.

Thank you! I haven't heard to sunless sea. But this was fun to make! I want to do a lot more, maybe even modular map pieces, eventually.

I'd recommend just googling 'Sunless Sea' or 'Sunless Sea Art'! It's a dark, eerie, fantastical kind of setting that has excellent visuals.

I know, right?

Haha I wanted to make it more reasonably designed. Like, it's a crypt, where people were meant to go and visit, before it became a lost ruin.

I just might have a use for this in my current campaign. the party is about to head off into a sort of 'valley of the kings' type area looking for a specific tomb, but since there are, sometimes, more players than the campaign calls for a few other sidetrack encounters might be good.

This map, though really simple, lasted a whole session, so it worked out! Just fill it with some cool encounters and tricky traps!

ShadowRaven2006 In reply to RoninDude [2018-01-09 19:20:24 +0000 UTC]

that's the plan Some cunning traps, a few nasty undead, and they should be happy.

BalloonPrincess [2018-01-08 22:06:59 +0000 UTC]

Magnificent work.  We used something like this a while back ... though the coffins were trapped with stuff like explosives or animated zombies that awoke when you opened the lid.  You had to defeat the trap to get underneath which was were the important person was buried and the treasure was.

RoninDude In reply to BalloonPrincess [2018-01-09 01:20:01 +0000 UTC]

Haha very cool! I had a mummy in the center one.

BalloonPrincess In reply to RoninDude [2018-01-09 11:35:53 +0000 UTC]

**Giggles!**

I often used skeletons or zombies because they were immune to certain weapons.  Later for Pathfinder, you find out that the Undead are immune to critical hits.

Over on the 'other art' panel on the left was your 'pygmy oni girl', and I now have the image of her declaring this is her property.

If I was still actively RP'ng, I would love to use your maps.
