Description
"Beatnik Bob's is directly across from the Circus, which features the "World's Largest Underwear", a collection of vintage video/pinball games, and is the place to get a beer and Corndog while visiting the City Museum." [link] (St._Louis,_Missouri)I never saw any underwear, so of all the stuff in the bar, I don't know why it gets top billing.
I had sharper images taken with a flash, but I liked the color and "glow" to these more. With a tripod I could have taken a little sharper images, but I kind of like a little fuzziness when I'm in a dark bar. Either that or I'm subconsciously trying to justify using these shots. What do you think?

I always forget to go look for that. A lot of people seem to miss it because it's so large people mistake them for a wall covering. I like the capture with the lights at the varying temperatures here too.

I agree, the color is worth the slight blur. And I understand not wanting to whip out the tripod in a place like this when you're wanting to take it easy. I usually end up not bringing mine along because it's a pain in the neck to lug around.

The biggest problem with a tripod at this place is setting it up in a moving crowd. It's hard to tell from the shots I posted, but it was really crowded that evening.
I really do want to go back there on a less crowded day and take my tripod. They have quite a collection of structural ornamentation (gargoyles and such) that have been salvaged from buildings that were torn down. They aren't well lit and they don't look right when I use a flash.

Sounds like it would be worth the trip. It looks like a really cool place.

Cool! You're right, the flash that comes with cameras are terrible... they blow out the colors and they never look right. I try to make do with the lighting available. Flashes are only good for quick documentation of people and objects in poor lighting... too me at least.

Thank you for the feedback. I was worried that I was just making excuses to myself when I posted this.
