Professor Oak and Agatha before their journeys.I have no clue what's canon in Pokemon anymore--I'm only a 1st Gen so please be lenient with me.
Only recently discovered Professor Oak's first name is Samuel (pretty cool) and he's featured in a movie as a kid with really ridiculous hair (not cool).
Anyway, I've always imagined Professor Oak and Agatha start as rookies in the same hometown/city, or met very early on, becoming kinda inseparable until parting ways due to differences in interests (Elite Four member vs Pokemon researcher).
So yeah, hope you like this!

So cute and way more believable than the young Oak found in the movie, this version it's more accurate to my eyes haha, Love the allusion of their past!

Oh the good day pictures you even gave it old time dusty charm. Don’t worry of continuity too much the series have little respect for theirs. I love Agatha I feel she is one the most under utilized characters. A lady that deals battlefield with tombstone is the oldest member of the elite four and knows of oak. I feel that there something wrong and she symbolizes something.

That is the hard part it could mean several things. I feel that think of her as the Undertaker from wrestling. It may be foreboding theme she is setting up.
It could also could mean She is stuck in her old ways, but so are you, but it is not even your old ways you are following Oak’s. she tries to warn you or should I say Red or girl trainer that suppose to represent you.

Do you happen to have any ideas for what a Pokemon game featuring Oak and Agatha as protagonists could be titled? Like with the two-name formula? (Red/Blue, Gold/Silver, etc)
I'm thinking about entering a group's contest here, where you create a game concept featuring a NPC (non-playable character) as the protagonist. But I can't come up with what the game could be titled!

I was trying to someone incorporate the word oak as well, but then Agatha's "version" didn't seem to correlate! I think you're on the right track, the title should probably be simple, and not named two names like the other games, since it's an adventure about particular characters. Thanks for your help!

Just to clarify, I'm just making fake box art for the game concept! Cuz that's what the contest is.
It won't be an actual game or anything, cuz I have no idea how to do that haha.
Hopefully I'll have time to make the fake box art and enter the contest, but I'm also very involved with my comic, so we'll see how it goes

His story reminds me of the cartoon trio, where they travel together and have all these great adventures, but slowly go their own ways and have new adventures on their own. It's bittersweet, and it makes me wonder what it would be like for the cast of the cartoon to run into each other or mention each other years and years down the line after they haven't spoken to one another in ages. I wouldn't mind seeing Oak and Agatha's own adventures either.
But anyway, great art! I love this cutesy, chunky style you use for the Pokemon pieces. x3

That is kinda interesting actually, thinking about what the cartoon characters would do/say if they saw one another again. I didn't watch much of the show, so I'm not quite that familiar with how they separate/meet new people, etc, but that would be kinda cool.

Boy would I love to see Oak/Agatha's rookie adventures. What I'd really love is a game where you play as either Oak and Agatha yourself. That'd be awesome man! Only I have no idea how it could work, cuz that would mean only 1st gen Pokemon could be in it, which would be pretty repetitive I guess.

Thank you! I definitely learned a lot from 's tutorial about manually adjusting an image to look like a vintage photograph, rather than just using a default sepia filter which doesn't quite produce believable results. Glad you like growlithe's expression! I really liked drawing it

Professor is still my favorite Pokemon professor, all the others all great in their own right, but this GUY is the original.
I wonder what happens to all his other Pokemon when he gets older?

In the anime we only see three of Oak's pokemon under his ownership, two of which were caught at the same time they appeared, the third was a Dragonite.
In the games. . . well you already know.
