To start a new group, go to the Groups page and click on Make a Group .

"Unable to register" This is what appears when i try to make my group.

So, i clicked "Make My Group" and instead of doing anything, a pink message popped up saying "Unable to register" Can you please help? I am trying to make a group focused around fictional characters, not just one fandom, but ALL fictional characters. -Sllyced

Do you have to have to be a core member to make groups?

Nope, you can make up to 3 groups as a normal member but with Core you can make 10

at the top of a page theres a button saying more click on that and then click on groups. at the top-right corner there should be a button saying make a group

Heh it's okay. I understand why dA would set the folders to 'not allowed' as default. (You might create a new folder and not have anyone submit stuff it it right away in case there are more changes you need to do).
But it kind of sucks that there's no hints that one still needs to edit that stuff.

Is inviting many members using the invite button considered spamming?

Mmm I'd be careful with that. I don't know if you can be reported for spamming for that/if the staff would see that as spamming, but it can still annoy some people. I personally usually decline group invites by default.
If you want to let people know about your group, it might be better to just send requests to add their art to your galleries. If they're interested, they can still join your group.

I'm the founder and admin for the group, and I always add people's art to the group and only invite them after I've finished adding relevant things from their galleries, thank you for the advice<3

how do you remove a group and is there a specific time after making like a month after making you can delete it or cant you

Under Edit members you need to select the Members category and set all folders to allow submissions
And make sure that the 'Any Deviant' category doesn't allow them submissions

Hover over 'group info', then click the little pencil button in the top right corner of the dropdown window. Under "Group tag line" write what you want

I like this! I'm still thinking about a group, it would be a group for a real-life Hungarian comic artist group, so that we would be able to get international attention.
Most of us already has a DA account, but we're not extremely popular. 
So the basic idea is that the members, maybe 10-20 artist would upload in the main gallery, and we would have a fanart section to. Can I somehow forbid fans from uploading to the main folders?
We have around 500 followers on fb... Do you think this would work? What should I be careful about?

anyway
it would work if you make the 10-20 artists 'contributors'
you can then set the permissions for the main gallery so only the contributors can submit there
and the fans could join as 'members' and only submit to a special folder or only the favorites, however you make the settings
