For some reason I can't upload an icon to my group, it says that it can't resize the image. It's 100X50 and only 17.5 kb. Do you have any idea of what I might be doing wrong?

rooteh In reply to Dragongryph [2012-02-02 23:17:30 +0000 UTC]

honestly no...

try opening and saving the file again under a different location/name, maybe in a different file type or in a smaller file size

if the problem stays, better contact the support

So how do you make it so that when somebody doesn't check what folder they're submitting to, it isn't Featured? I want to be able to look over them and don't want them to go straight to Featured, but instead to "New Submissions". That, or make it so that it doesn't accept it right away and sends me a note request.

rooteh In reply to werekitty13 [2012-01-14 20:37:28 +0000 UTC]

You can deactivate submitting to Featured.

Then just make a new folder (it should be moved so it's right beneath the Featured folder).

Question, whenever I click "Submit Art" button on the front page it take me to the page to upload something new. How do I fix it so that when I click the Submit Art button and I can choose from my existing art work?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

rooteh In reply to Clock-Inu [2011-11-24 01:02:11 +0000 UTC]

I suppose you're an admin in that group?

Go to the group's gallery, then select "Contribute existing artwork" from the options at the top. You can't use the button on the front page for that unfortunately.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Clock-Inu In reply to rooteh [2011-11-24 01:05:08 +0000 UTC]

yes I am

But I am in other groups were they actually take me to my gallery to submit so I was just thinking it's quite odd.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

rooteh In reply to Clock-Inu [2011-11-24 09:30:15 +0000 UTC]

well, when you're an admit, you have the option to directly submit new art to the group's gallery next to submitting old art. this option is then chosen as standard... I find that inconvenient, but can't change that :T

PepoFaec In reply to ??? [2011-08-11 15:25:38 +0000 UTC]

Augh- I hate to bother you, but I'm pretty okay with groups and how to work them, myself.. but I can NOT shut off group submissions at all. I'm closing the group down and I've set everything to "not allowed" and yet people are still able to send in submission requests.
Is there something else I have to do?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

rooteh In reply to PepoFaec [2011-08-12 16:18:46 +0000 UTC]

check if you're changing the settings of the right member group... you can see the list on the left in Manage Members, select 'members' there

also watch out that you click o "Show all folders" if you have more than the Featured folder

unless they're able to join as other groups and so you e.g. have some Contributors, then of course you need to change their sedttings as well

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

PepoFaec In reply to rooteh [2011-08-12 17:01:53 +0000 UTC]

Wow, that's frustrating. I tried all of that and a bit more before I got desperate enough to start looking up tutorials. I changed settings for all members and contributors (everything but founder and admins) to "Not allowed" on all of the folders-- and yet they're still able to send in submission requests to the Featured folder.

Should I just try contacting the help desk, instead?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

rooteh In reply to PepoFaec [2011-08-12 18:30:27 +0000 UTC]

Maybe try resetting the settings and then set it all again

and if they're able to send to the Featured folder, make sure the Featured folder is disabled as well

If none of this helps, yes, try contacting the help desk

ARCatSK In reply to ??? [2011-06-01 16:36:35 +0000 UTC]

Thank you for the tutorial!

I have a question:
What size and resolution settings shoud the backgroung image be for group journal in layout B and C?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

rooteh In reply to ARCatSK [2011-06-01 23:55:25 +0000 UTC]

That actually depends on the journal skin style (fixed or relative size) and the screen resolution of the viewer

I'd suggest to either work with a tiled one or use a wallpaper with 1000+ px width (including 'bleed' if you're using a skin with relative size.

Question: If the Featured folder was active before (With Deviantations in it) If I were to close it from art being subbmitted to it, would the Deviantations in it be deleted or not?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

rooteh In reply to GhostWolfGirl [2011-05-27 11:44:17 +0000 UTC]

No, the deviations don't get deleted unless you delete the folder. The settings have no effect on that.

Onyx-Tigeress In reply to ??? [2011-05-18 05:35:00 +0000 UTC]

Excellent tutorial.

And now I have a question.

I have deviants submit join requests into the Co-Founders and Contributors categories, but I'm already set with my one Co-Founder. We manage the group well on our own.
Any ideas on how I turn those selections off, I've looked around and really have no idea....

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

rooteh In reply to Onyx-Tigeress [2011-05-18 07:02:28 +0000 UTC]

In the Manage Members section, there's a field for each member class with "enable join requests"

Thank you for this awesome tutorial!
It helped me a lot, but I still got problem:
When I search for my new group, it just won't appear, no matter what tags I use.
Can you give me some advice?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

rooteh In reply to Hyacinthley [2011-04-21 19:34:47 +0000 UTC]

The search uses the group descriptions to find groups.
You should include the tags you want your group to be found with in that description text

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Hyacinthley In reply to rooteh [2011-04-21 19:59:55 +0000 UTC]

um, for the group avatar, if I use a gif, it have to be fit to size right? cause DA can't resize gif.....

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

rooteh In reply to sognodrago [2011-03-28 15:44:15 +0000 UTC]

I don't know... you have to try

I would always resize any picture I use as avatar myself.... I haven't used it yet but I can imagine there might me quite some quality loss... Resizing it oneself gives you more control I think.

madhatress2233 In reply to rooteh [2011-03-24 21:23:55 +0000 UTC]

I mean like if it's and Rpg Academy type thing, and you make an application to enroll, what info would be on it?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

rooteh In reply to madhatress2233 [2011-03-24 21:24:46 +0000 UTC]

That depends on the requirements the specific group chooses. They should have rules somewhere.
