Description
I'm sorry that this picture is so gigantic, but this tutorial will teach fursuiters how to make their own fursuit heads with wire frames. I know that most tutorials use foam, but I wanted to be different.Wolfbird's "follow-me eyes" tutorial can be found here: [link]
Also, if you use my design for your fursuit, please give me some sort of credit! It would be great if you let people know that RoseHexwit helped you with your fursuiting. :3
EDIT: I submitted this tutorial several years ago. It's very outdated. Haters are going to hate, but I've made two heads since this one that look WAY better.

This is actually one of the /worst/ tutorials i've seen,
sorry, but this is harmful for fursuit-makers due too the shitty result. Dont make tutorials before you can make proper heads outta foam or resin.

I have to agree. I am interested in making suits and this is atrocious.

This is actually a really, really bad way to make suit heads. Super dangerous and not very stable. I admire your efforts in trying, but I would say this is more a tutorial on how not to make a suit head.
I get that this is an old submission - but I would urge you to take it down or edit the title. This is not a good method for anyone new at making fursuits. And please stop slamming anyone criticising it as "haters" - most of the comments are from sensible people who don't want to see people hurt.

This helped me out a lot! Thanks. People will hate but hey u found a way to do this cheap and without having to buy materials like most do. So many methods I've found cost way too much. Even the plastic mesh is not as cheap as most ppl say it is.. Thanks it made me wanna try a new method maybe create my own sometime.

A fursuit is not cheap, and there is no way to get around it.
A fursuit is like a camera, you get what you pay for. If you want to pay 10$ for materials for a furhead, it IS going to look like shit in the end. I doubt that your head looks good if you

it just takes time. but i agree. once you save up money and buy the materials its going to be worth it. its just hard for those without a job

This was very helpful! I made one, and it looked awesome! Thanks. BTW! Don't listen to those other people who say bad things. Want to know why? Well, they say the bad things because in their heart they can't make a fursuit! Lol. ^_^ Love the head!

Now I'm gonna stop you right there. Any fursuit maker with a brain knows that wire is just a dumb thing to use when making a fursuit head. At least for the overall structure, if you use wire you're going to get cut up and seriously hurt. You need to use either foam or a resin blank.
No one here is giving this maker hate, they're just telling this person that this is not a good method in regards to safety.
That was a pretty bitch thing for you to say, though. Try telling Qarrezel that she doesn't know how to make a fursuit. She would never use wire as a structure.

Who is Qarrezel? BTW.. When I did the head i didn't get hurt. I made heads out of every structure. This is a good way - I'm not saying its the best- but its still pretty good. I say the "ninja hood technique" was the best.

AuroraFolf In reply to Sis533 [2013-05-08 15:58:54 +0000 UTC]
Okay great, but there's no sense in saying that those who don't think this is a good technique don't know how to make a suit head. That in itself is rude and ignorant.
Qarrezel is a highly respected realistic fursuit maker.

While there are some hateful comments here, I just wanted to say that this gave me a new outlook on how to make a moving jaw... I will have to try something similar to this method next time I make a fursuit. Thanks for posting! Appreciate it. <3

wow, i love this. im not trying to sound like a hater or anything, but i would suggest adding a top, and some foam to make the shape a bit more wolf-like. i made my first fursuit head like this, but i added foam before i furred it, it gave it more shape. so so so so sorry if im sounding like a hater, im not trying to! i am just trying to give good advise so that haters ay be spechless! lol. i do like how you tried the follow me eyes, and when thoes did not work, you came up with a new way to make eyes, i would not think to do that, im dumb. more lol. once again, not trying to sound lik a hater! and if i spelt stuff wrong, im only eleven...ehh...ikr. anyway, i do think that you should make a top, and glue or sew the ears on, unless you like being able to wear them without the head.

I actually like this tutorial, although I probably wouldn't use it since the heads I made require a lot more stability. This is a nice cheap, easy, fast, and ridiculously light way to make a head. I bet it's not as hot as some heads.

I used 16-gauge wire. It's bendable but also sturdy. You'd be able to use 14-gauge wire, too, but don't try to use anything smaller than 16.

I like this alot, Considering I haven't seen wire frame fursuits. Done with no sewing and just gluing. Very nice for such simple products.
Looks airier than my foam head...
I made a fursuit, foam head, the day before halloween 2011 for my costume... I should've used wire to make it airier. [I did same as you, but with a foam head tut...So Hot glue is amazing! XD

Woah hey now, let's not get vicious. It looks way better than what I was imagining based on the first few pictures. I've seen plenty of peoples' commissioned fursuits and feel sorry that they paid so much for them. People get better over time, so you should understand that. o.O
