Thank you again ^^ This also helps me see that maybe I should start off with something small and simple instead of going for a bunch of detail on my first few attempts. I may make a chibi of a wolf I've been wanting to make first before going for the larger size. Have you ever heard of Fenrir from Final Fantasy XI? I want to make him for a friend but understanding some of its form is helpful. The paws and pointy fur parts scare me away from it but maybe I should try to simplify it first to get comfortable.

wow this is amazing, when I find the part one I was shoked D: "THIS IS ACTUALLY EASY!" you explained it so well! and then today I was like "I'm gonna see if part two is available" D: it worked so good~! with this tutorial everybody could make a 4 legged plushie!... Now I sound like an odd infomercial for exercise machines or shakes ._.|||

Thank you do much for this tutorial! I could never get the in inner part of the legs right on my Plushies and they would bow outwards. This helped so much!
do you have a head tutorial as well?

Thank you so much for making this tutorial! I have been trying to draft my own for some time but could never get the belly gussets right; this makes it so much easier! One thinng I was wondering is that I like my plush floppy so I would make the haunches (back legs) more separate from the body to allow for that range of motion. However I haven't quite gotten that to work yet. I do have some plush I already own that have this design so I guess I should just take a closer look at how they wre are put together.

i am glad to hear this has helped you!
i would say you get the right idea making them more separated will add that extra movement along with making the dip of the inner leg more shallow would help that too.

Yes! Thank you! I will definitely be experimenting with this, I also just tried drafting patterns by sculpting what I want it to look like and the general size of the plush out of newspapers plastic wrap and masking tape and drawing the seams on, cutting it with my exacto and adding darts. So we'll see if this method actually works in transferring it to fabric. -fingerscrossed- I'll most likely use this method for the more oddly shaped ones that are harder to wrap my head around on paper.

Haha, this doesn't have anything to do with the tutorial, but where do you get your fabric? I'd get mine at walmart, but it's just soooooo expensive! :/ great tut by the way!

The fleece i use I get at Joann fabrics. You can get stuff either online or at the store. Then the minky I get is from theminkyboutique.com/cart/mink… I like that shop quite a lot.

So the back is sewn with the second side? How do you keep it from sewing to the legs underneath?
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
RoyallyPlushed In reply to Hinata-teh-Lefty [2014-01-11 22:10:28 +0000 UTC]
i start with then neck and then sew the legs and then back last, so nothing moves around. the legs should be laying down when you sew the back. is that what you are asking?
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
Hinata-teh-Lefty In reply to RoyallyPlushed [2014-01-11 22:34:27 +0000 UTC]
Let's see, it's kind of hard to describe... To me, it looks like the second side would accidentally get sewn to the first set, the bottom layer, when you try to finish it up. How would you keep the bottom layer from getting sewn into the second side?

RoyallyPlushed In reply to Hinata-teh-Lefty [2014-01-11 22:44:42 +0000 UTC]
well you would have to watch out for that, but when i sew i just tuck the legs out of the way they have a lot of room to move around. it might make more sense to you once you start sewing it yourself. to have it in front of you is a lot different then just looking at pictures.

Hinata-teh-Lefty In reply to RoyallyPlushed [2014-01-11 22:54:07 +0000 UTC]
Right, I'll do some experimenting. I like to try and figure out the physics in my head to see how and why it works before I try it myself. I've done a lot of studying so I'm getting better at understanding how patterns work though
By the way, this is off topic, but did I offend you when I asked about the Blaziken hat advice?

I've always wanted a plush but i can't afford the $100s that people want so, i need to make one... and your tuts make it look a lot easier than I would have though and I love how you explain what happens when the legs are cut straight and what not.
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
RoyallyPlushed In reply to Vocol [2014-01-11 22:17:59 +0000 UTC]
in truth they are not to hard to make, it just takes some one to explain it. where in my case i just kept making them until i understood.
and do you mean the the top of the inner leg patter? of the shape of the leg?
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
Vocol In reply to RoyallyPlushed [2014-01-11 22:20:41 +0000 UTC]
both actually, it's really good that you explain things.
Do you know how to airbrush? My OCs are so complicated I want to get white materials and airbrush the colors and patterns onto them so I can get intricate if needed.
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
RoyallyPlushed In reply to Vocol [2014-01-11 22:25:32 +0000 UTC]
if you don't add the downward curve at the top of the inner leg. the legs will do best described as a split. and for the shape of the legs as said in the first tutorial on making the pattern, you can make them any shape really straight, with more definition, thinker, thinner.
as for airbrushing i have never done it before sorry, i don't know quite how to do it.
