i used a sewing machine for this one but i have made ones before that i sewed by hand and it came out just as good! i use half back stitch when sewing the body. its stronger that way.

i hope you make one ^w^ and if you are making one i would love to see how it comes out >w<

Hey , thanks , I'm a total beginner, What do I need to know or learn to make these adorable plushies :3
also what materials would I need?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

RoyallyPlushed In reply to Fallen-Lucario [2012-12-16 02:28:40 +0000 UTC]

i am so glad to hear you are interested in sewing!
for the materials i always use anti pill fleece you can also use blizzard fleece too but it pill after a year or so. i get mine at Joann fabrics. if you do not live neat one always check out other fabric store. you can ether hand or machine sew i do both. hand sewing takes longer but they will turn out the same. (if you need help with hand sewing i can help you with some tricks because i know sewing machine can be really pricey).

for learning how to make plushies you need to start with some simple patters to learn how the fabric reacts. like this driftloon patter i have made.

if you need me to clarify things please just ask! i am always really excited to help people get started! uhhh yes i think i answered your questions. if not just msg me again XD

Fallen-Lucario In reply to RoyallyPlushed [2012-12-16 04:18:01 +0000 UTC]

What does it mean to pill?
and what are all the different types of fleece? whats the difference
Can you make plushies with felt?
if it comes out the same , is the only advantage to machine the speed?
I'd love to learn how to sew by hand , if you have tutorials or videos let me know!(:
Thanks for all the help

RoyallyPlushed In reply to Fallen-Lucario [2012-12-16 15:39:13 +0000 UTC]

when fleece pills it has small clumps of fabric that bunches together it is not so pretty the anti till is more soft and fuzzy and has more texture. i know a lot of people like to start with felt but personally when you make a plush out of felt it is not as cuddly and the fabric is very stiff and it is hard to make round plushies.
if you have tight stitches when hand sewing then yes the only advantage to a sewing machine is the speed.
i do have a i think 2 videos that i have made...i will go get the link to them [link] <- here is one where i show my basic stitch and [link] <- here is were i show you how to connect peaces to a body with out showing a seem. i hope it helps.
again is there is more i left out please ask more ^w^

Thanks (:
the only thing I'm having trouble understanding is making the initial knot,
And I think the making pattern tutorial will be greatly appreciated (:
Oh one thing I've heard of minky fabric i think , whats that like?
So what would felt be good for, the only reason i asked was because michaels doesn't have fleece and I want to get started asap on making these cuddly plushies :3

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

RoyallyPlushed In reply to Fallen-Lucario [2012-12-18 00:14:32 +0000 UTC]

umm the knot can some times be hard after some sewing you could try it out.
minky fleece is a very soft fabric. tho it is some what hard to start with. but starting with it may help later on. the one thing is that is can be more expensive. i don't use it but i have had a lot of people suggest it. it make the plushies look much more finished and professorial along with soft.

again the only problem with felt is it is not as soft and it is harder to get a round shape to the plush it tends to make it more boxy and felt then curved and round. but i have seen many people make plushies out of felt and they look cute but it tends to be much harder to get the shape you want.

Do you know where I could buy fabric?
well fleece. Oh is fleece thin or will I have a hard time pushing a needle through it.

RoyallyPlushed In reply to Fallen-Lucario [2012-12-20 22:34:43 +0000 UTC]

i don't know where you live but near me i get if from the local fabric store. it is most the time there it is used for blankets and jackets. but it is quite easy to push a needle thought it. so no need to be worried about that.

It didn't fully answer my question: what stitch did you use for sewing it together?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Points4Free In reply to Points4Free [2012-08-25 17:02:40 +0000 UTC]

Like for the body and the cloud what stitch did you use to sew the pieces together

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

RoyallyPlushed In reply to Points4Free [2012-08-25 17:31:54 +0000 UTC]

i used the same stitch. it may seem like a different one because they are separate peace but i sewed it all together the same way.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Points4Free In reply to RoyallyPlushed [2012-08-25 17:51:03 +0000 UTC]

I didn't mean that I meant like taking the four body pieces and seeing them all together and getting the circle, what stitch did you use for that?
And for sewing the cloud together (cloud and cloud not cloud onto the body)

Points4Free In reply to Points4Free [2012-08-25 17:57:43 +0000 UTC]
