Are there any other types of fleece I could use instead that would work well for this (incase I don't find it)

ya i know when i started i felt like it was a huge competition. no one gave away secrets of making patterns or things. tho i must say i understand all plushies should be different and each person has there own style with plushie making. giving away patterns is kinda like putting up line art for others to color in ^w^. but i don't really want to give people patterns i want to give them knowledge on how to make there own!

awesome, I've been wanting to find a nice easy tutorial on how to do a round object for age
Let me make sure I understand the first part, you took two of each and sewed them together, then sewed the two pieces together to make four? So when you turn it inside out it's a ball?

RoyallyPlushed In reply to XMizanX [2012-08-24 14:44:17 +0000 UTC]
yep that is correct and have the seems facing out when sewing them together.
i am SO SO SO SO HAPPY that this tutorial helps you!! i also had trouble with making round plushies in the beginning. when you make some thing i would love to see the out come!!

if you are ever thinking of making lots of plushies i suggest getting some fleece or what other people use minky fabrics but starting with felt will be fine

Points4Free In reply to RoyallyPlushed [2012-08-25 04:57:42 +0000 UTC]
Ya, since I'm kind of a beginner I used felt. but I'm starting to think of getting some fleece because felt just won't do c:

RoyallyPlushed In reply to Points4Free [2012-08-25 11:55:23 +0000 UTC]
an up side of fleece is it is much more soft~ but starting with felt is good too now you have a feel of the pattern. i hope all goes well.

Im going to start making my own patterns (I don't know how yet but I'll figure it out) and I'll continue polishing and get some fleece... (there are no stores around me that I know sell fleece so I have to go on a hunt for fleece(I don't have a Joanns fabrics near me :c))

RoyallyPlushed In reply to Points4Free [2012-08-25 18:50:12 +0000 UTC]
if you don't have a joann fabrics near you there is always online but i dont know if they ever have sails on there. i have heard etsy is a good place to shop for online fabrics.

I'm not a big fan of buying things online... Do you think fabricland would have any (If you've ever heard of it)
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
RoyallyPlushed In reply to Points4Free [2012-08-25 18:56:05 +0000 UTC]
it might. most places do because they are often used for blankets and making jackets or things for children so they might have a selection. i would defiantly try.

at some places i was graced to live near 2 joann fabrics where anti-pill fleece is only 9.99 and i often get coupons for 50% off some time. always look for sails it is a sewers dream~!

Points4Free In reply to RoyallyPlushed [2012-08-25 19:10:16 +0000 UTC]
Would there be any substitute that I could possibly use instead of anti-pill fleece if say I couldn't find any (I live very far away from joann fabrics, I have a fabricland though...)
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
RoyallyPlushed In reply to Points4Free [2012-08-25 19:23:31 +0000 UTC]
blizzard fleece also works. micro fleece i have seen but have not worked with yet that might also work ^w^
depending on how far away you live form joann fabrics it might be worth it. the often have sails for 50% off all anti-pill fleece which can save a lot once you really start sewing.

oh never mind then that is a long way! i would say go to the fabric store near you and ask/look if they have any if not then ask and see if they would be willing to carry i.

Uhm... Question. Is the drifloon supposed to look like a square when you sew the body together at first :c?
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
RoyallyPlushed In reply to Points4Free [2012-08-25 20:53:16 +0000 UTC]
have you stuffed it yet?? you are using felt so i don't quite know how it will react. if you stuff it and it is still a square then no its not. the way to fix this is the hand sew in the sides to make it more of a sphere
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
Points4Free In reply to RoyallyPlushed [2012-08-25 20:56:03 +0000 UTC]
Ok, I already stuffed it but It's kind of like a prototype for when I make the fleece one and are Polar fleece and blizzard fleece the same?

RoyallyPlushed In reply to Points4Free [2012-08-25 20:59:39 +0000 UTC]
i don't believe so. i think those are about the same to each other
