So. You place Gotham City in New Jersey. After watching Dawn of Justice, I figured that Gotham would be Newark. And Metropolis would be New York. Interesting.

Yup. That's what the comics say, and I was going to alter it but when I got to thinking that he's the world's greatest detective and he was highly motivated back then... I decided to keep it.

...is it wrong that, in my DCU, Gordon is in on the Batman thing? You know...after the whole brouhaha with Joker and paralyzing Barbara?
YOU know...instad of having it weaken them, it made the connection between Bruce and Gordon stronger in that there were no secrets between the two of them? Since Barbara was attacked as a civilian, not as Batgirl and all ;;;
Plus at this point, Batman was already considered an agent of the police force in Gotham ;;; (Hey, they put a giant spot light on GCPD...I think htat means that Batman is affliated with te police enough so that his evidence is allowed to be seen as legal)

Gordo: Bruce...wait, Bruce Wayne? (Gordon looks him over and chuckles) Well, look at you. You've grwon a bit. Well, it's good to see you again, son. How are you?
Bruce: Finally back from being abroad, you?
Gordon: Oh, you know...started a family of my own. Got a son and daughter. So you heading back to your place?
Bruce: Yeah...just wanted to see ianything in Gotham has changed...except for those damned mobsters...
Gordon: Eh, they're gonna get busted. DOn't worry. And Bruce...(gives a sympathetic look) I'm still looking for him, don't worry.
Bruce: (Understanding) Yeah...so am I. Good eeing you again, Jim.
Gordon: Back at you, Bruce. (The two seperate as they wnet on with their business)

I like the idea that Dent became Bruce's friend after he returned to Gotham, with Bruce helping Dent get elected to District Attorney. (But they could definitely have known each other as children)
Kirk and Bruce did meet as children, but they were never friends, nor does either remember their encounter. One of Kirk's test subjects was the bat that crashed into Bruce's parlor one night, inspiring him to become Batman.
I just feel if everyone of Bruce's friends becomes a villain, then we really got to wonder about what kind of guy Bruce is... and we already have enough reason to worry about the guy.

Yeah, in this continuity... and in one comic book, Kirk talked to Bruce about bats just before the movie Bruce's parents took him to just before they were killed.

Oy. Whenever writers try to add things to Bruce's childhood, it always seems to be on "the" night. It's like the guy did nothing other than watch his parents die for the first 14 years of his life!

I heard of and know someone who graduated from high school school when they were 16 as opposed to late 17 or 18, so for Bruce to do it at 14 is damn impressive.
