I was talking to the other day. I told him how I had bought a sheet of scratchboard a few months ago (turns out it was over 2 years since I actually purchased it) but couldn't think of what to use it for until I saw his Alien painting [link]So this is a WIP of the 6 hours already spent scratching away the top black layer with a pointy tool. It's a bit fiddly but not quite as tedious as stippling.
The scratchboard is about 24" x 18" and what you see so far is only half....the Predator is going on the other half

Wow this is cool and have to say he is kinda cute ,lol .I haven't seen anything done on scratch board in a while ,be watching for the predator !

I know exactly what you mean and I've been rebelling over starting any portrait commissions for the time being. But Alien/Predator is certainly a challenge, and I'd take my hat off to you if I was wearing one

Scratch board would scare me though, one mistake and it's there forever...cant glue it back on

Ah you just make sure you keep checking your ref and if you start to make a mistake you disguise it, who's gonna know?
