Description
So this is the Alien half of the scratchboard/scraperboard finished. This half is 12" x 18".I've started sketching in the details on the Predator half of the board that you can't see here, but you'll see it soon enough
It's quite fun to work with, this scraperboard stuff. Feels a bit odd though, taking the surface off instead of adding to it.

just kidding about what?....the awesomness?
I did warn you that I was a crap friend I see you've removed that youtube post now I was going to go back and try to listen to it again and see if I could see your fishywishys banging their heads against their tank. Is the hand healing well yet? I twisted my ankle on Wednesday, it's gone all fat and bruised, finally went to see the doc about it last night 'cos Wayne kept whinging at me and it's just soft tissue damage as I suspected. Hope the swelling has gone down by next Wed tho' 'cos we're taking the kids to London for the day so there'll be a lot of walking around museums and such

I don't think you suck at guitar....I think you're excellent at guitar....I think you suck at singing and you insist on doing it at the same time as playing the guitar!

yeah everybody says that too...it s just hard keeping the rhythm without vocals

RTyson In reply to Shivluvzmusic [2008-05-26 07:33:02 +0000 UTC]
yeah I understand
the thing is sometimes you pause your singing slightly to wait for the note you're playing, it'd be a good exercise to try playing to someone elses singing, that way you'd have to keep to their rhythm.

Nice blur effect I thought that would be hard on scratchboard but you did it really well
And um I mean the sense of depth on the top

It is rather interesting stuff to use isn't it. You can get white scratch board too that you apply your own ink to. saves time if you want a whit background and u don't want to do all that scraping lol. This looks amazing btw.

it is interesting, apparently you can also get one that has coloured chalk layers so you can scrape through at different depths to reveal different shades...sounds a bit more complicated to me though, I'll stick to the nice easy one layered black on white stuff for now and thanks btw

Hey that sounds pretty cool, I had not hear of this. Perhaps I will have to check it out. Though I know I wont be able to find it in this tiny town...cant even find a simple non spiral bound sketchbook...pathetic.

thanks! must admit I was a bit disappointed with the last one, it left such a huge impression on me that I forgot I'd seen it and almost watched it again until my hubby reminded me.

Man that's some great work! Fantastic contrast, textures and effects. I did some scratchboards in the past when I was a child, but it already had a design on it; You just had to scrape it. Kind of like painting by numbers. Anyway, it's fun indeed. Perhaps I will get myself some blank scratchboard soon. You've inspired me.

Thanks. yeah they were the type of scratchboards I did too when I was a kid, then I decided to buy a sheet of the blank stuff and it's been sat here for two years waiting for me to think of something to use it for. I hope you get yourself some, but don't take that long to use it

Hehe I probably will anyway. I got so much going on that some stuff catches dust for a long while before I start or finish it.
