Description Working splurgedom of continuance!

Second painting done alongside the landscape. That's what this is. At the same time, it's a mother's day gift since my mom's a Buddhist and she wanted a painting of Guan Yin for some time now.

First of all, this didn't turn out quite how I wanted it to. I was doing a bit of research on her and there was lots of stories on how she got the thousand arms/eyes that I won't bore you with. But I realized she was depicted a lot as a beautiful young woman, eyes mostly closed because she's always watching the world below her. After I started painting, I realized that you don't see a whole lot of pictures of her as a woman with the thousand arms, it's always the male version of her.

So maybe I improvised. Also, a lot of people (and by a lot I mean my sister and my friend, the only people who had opinions on my painting) didn't want her arms to be connected to her body. They wanted them to be kinda like spirit arms or something where they kinda disintegrated when they neared her shoulders. You can kinda see it happening on the right, but on the left... I kinda ended up covering it with her veil, so it still looks like it's coming out of her shoulders. And then the question comes... How are the arms coming out of her back when it's covered by clothes?

The world may never know...

This isn't done. I had more planned with this painting, but not enough time to do it. She was supposed to have a willow branch in her right hand (the empty hand, on your left side) and various different items in her other hands that I never quite got to doing. It's close to completion, but not quite there.

Why do I have this tendency to point out things like this to people looking at my gallery? >___>

Someday I will have the completed version and I will update the painting to show.
