Description
I made this using the same method as I used while making tree...? ( graphite, colored pencils and markers with a touch up in adobe elements).... I cleaned up the white areas using adobe but other than that it was mostly traditional..... (exept the background... of course)....any way I made this because there arn't a whole lot of good original characters in the sci fi department.... just a bunch of ALIEN copys and dinasaurs ... >.> THe dinasaurs were pretty cool though.... any way im rambling..
I hope you like this and if you want ..prints are available soon
Thanks for viewing
And no he has no name as of yet....

Original looking sci-fi characters are sometimes hard to come by. I think this design works well because while it's original it still has some echoes of sci-fi designs from movies. This isn't a bad thing, because it's different enough to stand out but familiar enough so that it can be accepted without being too "out there"...if my babbling makes any sense. Haha.

A humanoid with exo skeleton! Fabulous! It would be cool to add him to a alien planet background or a space ship interior.

I think the contrast is what works best in this piece. It's very effective and makes the creature really stand out. The creature's design is particularly original.

Dude, very cool. I like how it seems to glow a bit. I also like what you did with the background. It's subtle but better than leaving it stark white. And I do like the face and body. I want to say it reminds me of something, but I can't think of what. Maybe I'm just think of your other pieces. Anyway you have a very cool style.

He looks really cool! I wish the full-view was bigger so I could see more detail...
I like the shape of his head and the things on his back, and I like his arms and hands (is he reaching into the ground, or does it just end in a blunt shape? If it just ends in a shape, I like the shape). I think pupils would accentuate his eyes, but that's a stylistic thing for you to decide .

Only the background isn't to my taste really, but not too bad, either...

I like the concept of this creature, just dont care for the background...doesn't go well with the mood of this alien, which kind of reminds me of the works of H.R. Giger, but other than the background, nothing really wrong. Some nice details.

Wow! Such dramatic lighting. This is a very different approach for you. I like seeing this variety in your style. The graphic background is a great choice - does not detract from the beautifully detailed drawing. Nice work.

You're right -- most of the sci-fi stuff on dA tends to be fanart or just derivative, but this is a great piece! The fact that it was done with traditional media makes it that much more appealing. In particular, I love the washed-out look of the colouring job, and the mottled texture on the skin.
Really, the only (vaguely) critical thing I have to say is that I'd love to see the character put into some sort of context - that is, it would look even better with a background, some kind of sci-fi landscape.
