Description
Just to prove that I AM really making Maxime into a MUGEN player. At the moment, he's not so impressive. Completely adequate as a punching bag, but with only four attacks and one parry, he's not exactly the most awesome fighter to say the least. So here are some screenshots of him getting hammered by some of the others and attempting to defend himself as best he can.
I hope to have his one-button commands finished soon, and then I'll go on to the specials and supers. When he's finished, Maxime will be ready to kick some ass.
Oh yeah, and no, that blood doesn't belong to him, that's actually part of Ella's attack. We all know that there's no gore in Fort Glen/Electrospastic. Even so...where did the blood come from anyway if my characters don't bleed??
ELLA IS VERY MYSTERIOUS GIRL. (and an AWESOME character.)
Maxime (c) Ryanide. All other characters (c) their respective owners. MUGEN is (c) ??????? at the moment.

Chaotzu is supra-cute. I can't believe they never explain why he looks like a chinese doll though, it's bizarre.

Hmmm...in Dragon Ball, he had some rather cool psychic powers. I wonder why he hasn't gotten any stronger in DBZ? Everyone else does.
And is it me, or is Chaotzu's selfdestruct ability useless?
Does he ever actually DEFEAT anyone with it?

Actually, virtually no one DOES become more powerful between Dragon Ball and DBZ. Except Goku and Krillin, obviously. The others were pretty much there so the original Dragon Ball fans could be like "CHAOTZU, There you are! ~"

That's true, it's just the characters having way less emphasis put on them after they've 'served their purpose'. Which Chaotzu and Tien did ages ago, in the original Dragon Ball. ;

She's an original character, but she's based off Samarah from 'The Ring.'
She parodies a whole bunch of other horror movies, like Chainsaw Massacre and Psycho in her attacks.

Yes it is free, and you can make your own characters (as I'm doing now.)
However, it's definitely not easy. You need to be prepared to learn a lot of coding language if you want to make your own characters.
Luckily there are tutorials and stuff like that, and if you join a forum like this one

you can get help from people with experience.
Download mugen for windows here: [link]
If you want to make characters, you'll probably want to have Fighter Factory (you can download it on that Mugenguild site) as well. It helps a lot.

But I can't make games in Flash. And the cool thing about MUGEN is that you can share your characters with other people, and most of the coding (physics and such) are already done for you.

GhostManZeroEXE In reply to Ryanide [2007-04-02 08:39:44 +0000 UTC]
Actually, you can, there are loads of games made in flash, but you'd need to do all the coding with ActionScript and stuff =/
Still, good luck with that! ^^

Ryanide In reply to GhostManZeroEXE [2007-04-02 12:25:21 +0000 UTC]
No, I mean *I* can't make them in Flash.
I've tried using action script in the past, and failed rather hard. The best I can do is use it to set up simple navigation buttons and loading screens.

I like his gauntlet claws, they're way awsome. I'm curious, does know kung fu?
And is he some kind of rabbit or somewhat?
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
Ryanide In reply to BaroqueWolfie [2007-04-02 00:50:30 +0000 UTC]
Yes, he's pretty adept at martial arts, although most of it is without any discipline but he sort of does a cross between kick boxing and full-out-mindless brawling. He also uses his electropowers and calls in a lot of his friends to help him as well.
You're correct, he's a long-furred loppy rabbit.

COOL!
Self-taught martial arts, I was thinking of using that for my comic characters also!
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
Ryanide In reply to BaroqueWolfie [2007-04-02 12:47:57 +0000 UTC]
Well I don't know if you'd classify them as self taught because he gained that martial arts ability when he put on the Hunter's Claws.
Even without the gauntlets, he knows a little bit of martial arts (as does almost EVERYONE in Electrospastic/Fort Glen) but doesn't have the killer instinct to apply them properly. When he's wearing the Hunter's Claws, his mindset changes completely and he suddenly knowns the correct technique to do all these tricks.
It's not that he was incapable of doing these things before, but the Hunters Claws simply make him 10x more fierce, which causes him to push himself past his usual limit.

BaroqueWolfie In reply to Ryanide [2007-04-02 14:34:24 +0000 UTC]
Cool, didn't know that, I still like the idea of self-taught martial arts. There's this (human)character I have, which I can't reveal the name cause somebody might steal the idea, who lived in a southern U.S. family that disliked Asian stuff. Maybe because he was told "ya don't need to learn from a Chinese, make up yer own martial arts", and so he did. By using a rifle like a quaterstaff and designing his own discipline. Cool thing, huh, I thought it myself.

Ryanide In reply to BaroqueWolfie [2007-04-03 11:32:25 +0000 UTC]
That's pretty neat, but there are a lot of characters who use that very similar idea. If you've ever played the Soul Calibur series, you'll know that the characters who have their own self-taught styles are often incredibly fun to play.
But a rifle in close combat is quite cool. My character Milus from Dendyn Dynasties uses a bazooka as a tonfa, but DD isn't supposed to be at all realistic.

BaroqueWolfie In reply to Ryanide [2007-04-03 14:48:23 +0000 UTC]
Cool, a bazooka tonfa! So yeah, a rifle used like a quarterstaff is one of my brilliant ideas. And also my Axesword, a fusion between an axe and a sword, my vision of a 'buster sword'; I love inventing new fantasy weapons.

Ryanide In reply to VengenceMkII [2007-04-01 07:41:37 +0000 UTC]
Just animate each of their animations in flash, then export the movie as a PNG sequence. Open all those PNGs into Photoshop and convert them to PCX files using a batch process. Make sure they all have the correct MUGEN pallete first!

VengenceMkII In reply to Ryanide [2007-04-01 13:39:31 +0000 UTC]
I vaguely remember RDN Game tool being capable of taking movie files and exporting them fully into individual frames in a particular format and pallete... could streamline the work but still, rdn tools are free and may not be as good as photoshop anyways. I'll give it a spin then, thanks.
