Description This was part of some creature development that I did while in college. I worked on this video game pitch packet and got a chance to explore a bunch of different wild creatures. This one didn't make the cut. graphite on sketch paper

He looks kind of manic and goofy, more than dangerous and horrifying to me. I love the drawing, lots of talent on display here. Why was he rejected? Looks like a good party monster to me!

That is exactly why he was rejected. He looked too manic and goofy to be a scary antagonist in a game. It didn't fit with the style of the rest of the game we were pitching but it was a fun exploration in concept art so I posted it here.

Why NOT work on a party monster game???? I like both serious and silly art. And some of the best stuff I've seen, art-wise, is silly. Kyoht made a deinonychosaur trying to put on some socks. Yes, it sounds
utterly silly and goofy, but she still drew one of the best deinonychosaurs I've ever seen. Got the anatomy down right and the pic is hilarious! --> [link]
And here's one of my favorite deinonychus pics...and one of the BEST!!!...I've ever seen, and it's also funny as hell... [link]

I've seen that and yes it is very awesome! I'm not opposed to silly artwork either, its just this particular monster didn't fit with the scary guts and gore themes that the project called for. But I did like the design so I couldn't let it fade away in the recesses of my sketchbooks.
