Description
The Zikar Class Light battleship is essentially a smaller, lower cost version of the Morveka Class Battleship. The Zikar retains the same speed and armor protection as a Morveka, but has reduced Shield strength and less firepower than the Larger Battleship, however it can fit in and be constructed in Class 3 Shipyards and Docks, which are normally reserved for cruiser sized ships. This means that the Zikar is more popular with local defense fleets or far flung outposts whom want a Battleship with true battleship capability, but doesn't have the infrastructure to support larger battleships. The Design is quite tight though, and was difficult for the designers. The ship of course is a very tight fit in class 3 docks and it has a number of compromises to make the ship viable. However for certain stations this ship is much preferred over the Zukeron class Battle Monitor. This ship has roughly the same firepower as a Zukeron, but it has a much better operational range and much better size armor than a Zukeron, making it a more flexible design.

I like your rendering style. I also reccomend you use some compositing to bring the ship to life or styleize it more.

Very interesting, and you give a quite solid reason for why such a design, which wouldnβt normally have much if any use, would be used instead of a full sized battleship or battle monitor.
I must say that you are doing an incredible job with all these ship designs. Iβm impressed!

Makes sense, especially with the design thing. There are hundreds of so called βpaper designsβ siting in the filing cabinets and drawers of naval archives that never went much beyond the sketch stage. Seriously, Iβve seen some of them, at least the publicly available ones, and their quantity is staggering. Given the post sacristy of your universe, more of those paper designs would very likely make it to the prototype stage.
Also, you wouldnβt quite believe the lunacy of some of those paper designs. Some of them would have been quite cool to see though, had they actually been built.
