Description The pastor at my home parish asked an extremely holy priest to leave. In protest, my parents asked me to create a web site explaining the situation. This is one of the fastest web designs I've ever done. It went from concept to functioning style sheet in only six hours.

Update: I've repaired some layout issues pointed out by *patgroove and *diamondie. Thanks for the feedback, guys.

re: background color.

I think I found something that still provokes response, keeps the sense of responsibility, and has an attribute of wine color/blood of Christ. #7B0808

I agree about the orange being a weird choice. It seems too bright and intense, not suitable for a religious purpose (unless we're talking about Buddhism). The orange bars in general bother me. Usually sidebars have some sort of purpose, such as presenting images or links. These ones just sit there, looking massive. It looks weird to have them on both sides, with those gradient-like fades.

The middle part of the page looks nice, very plain, but that's not a bad thing. The alignments look a little bit icky, but I might not have even noticed if * patgroove hadn't mentioned it. The light, pinkish shade of orange is nice and the typography works quite well.

Thanks for commenting! I agree that the orange is a very "loud" color, but the group I made the site for wanted to inspire people to action. I don't think I will use such colors again in the future, though.

The screen shot doesn't show the bottom of the page, which is unfortunate. The orange is actually a background color, and the page floats over it with the dark fades acting as a shadow.

With Patrick Groove's help, I was able to fix the alignment problems. I wonder if I should update the screenshot to reflect these changes?

Yeah, I think you should post a new screenshot. Just mention it in the description (or add "edited" or "2.0" or something to the name of the Deviation).

I have two comments. One about the color and two about the vertical alignment. Red/orange/or any warm color in this case can instill rage or anger. In the case of religion this may not be the best colors to choose however for the topic you do want to provoke people into action. In the case of the church I would depict colors that provoke a sense of responsibility. You've been responding to marketing all your life. What colors have provoked responisibility in you?

The second thing is vertical alignment. Try to align the title and the menu to the content or likewise for the content to the menu and the title. Off center or offset visual elements often register with people as "uncomfortable". I suggest using a grid to develop a set pattern.
