Description
What can I say?I was tempted to commission !DracheaRannak to draw me a new sailor generator base and just do the coding and somebody else had the same idea! Now I'm just floored by the beauty of this generator. I wish I knew how to program in flash... Seems so much more elegant!
My first reaction was: Wow, no need for me to update SailorXv2 anymore... But then I realized that this generator is missing quite a few options that SailorXv2 has (and vice versa) so I suppose SailorXv2 is not obsolete yet.
But looking at these beautiful graphics makes me want to start from scratch again... My art has improved so much again since I started SailorXv2 that I'm beginning to see lots of flaws...
EDIT [April 2013] I have decided that I will move on to SailorXv3. Not any time soon so hold your questions, but especially with the new anime coming soon I will certainly enjoy it. And I hope to be starting a programming course soon so the next SailorX release will be exactly what I want it to be! Multiple poses and expressions, princess gowns and most of all better artwork!

I feel I must insert one thing here: whatever else you make, I love the way everything in the current one is so pixelated; I mean, there's a clear pixel-perfect delineation between each item. I would NEVER be able to have as much fun with it if the outlines were soft.
Also I use both yours and the Flash one, and love them both, but I use them for different purposes. When I need to copy something from the show, I go to it. When I need to have crazy fun making someone else's sailor or, y'know, Sailor Cosmos, I come here. Sometimes I gank the wings from Drachea's to stick them on here. I like both of them, but they have different uses.

That is very interesting! I'm not sure whether I'll be sticking to the pixelated edges. In all honesty, I feel looks a little dated. I can however see how that would be useful for some purposes. I won't be able to decide until I get started. I suspect I'll be drawing the artwork within an HTML5 editor though. Pretty sure the artwork edges will therefore be antialiased.
I will keep in mind to include a transparent background. That way you could import your transparent image into Photoshop and the likes, protect the transparency, and then change colors or whatever you want that way. Adding other stuff like wings into the background would be easy that way too!

Wah! But PIXEEEEELS...ah well, I can always keep using this one for complex stuff.
The transparent background thing hasn't been an issue for me. I just screenshot it, then color-select the background color with 0 threshold to remove it. Voila!

Too bad DR traced most of his art, his concept were great, but tracing art is such a shame

Actually, many professional artists save time by first generating a good reference picture (Photo or 3-D modeling software), and then tracing over it. I personally don't think there's much wrong with it, as long as you create your own poses. The pose has to be made specifically for your purpose. If you take the pre-existing pose then you are bound to make a compromise somewhere because it wasn't specifically made for your purpose. And if you take the picture from the Internet, then of course there's the danger of another picture or multiple pictures out there using the exact same pose yours!
I used to create my poses and 3-D modeling software, to then trace over them. Nowadays I still create the reference pose in the program, but then I redraw it manually giving it more energy and more organic feel.
I have plenty of poses for SailorXv3 already!

When you do make the V3, please add more hair options! I've wanted to make a Sailor version of Beruche from the Black Moon, but there aren't any good hair styles to match hers in any of the previous versions.

I do hope I will have the time to finish all the hairstyles this time. As you can see by all the greyed out boxes in v2 there were a lot more that I wanted to create. I still intend to do that for SailorXv3!

I've been using a more detailed dolldivine generator and creating soldiers like crazy, but I will say that I would love to see one like this to make males and princesses. Maybe even be able to put it all together and create your sailor, her princess form, and her lover - maybe even her twin! I've never used the SailorXv versions that are out there. I just...kinda learned about it yesterday but wasn't confident enough to try it out. ._.
I might actually upload pictures of the scouts I've done. Would be the first thing I've ever loaded to DA. : o!
All and all, if you're not sure if you should start over, then start something new, see how it goes, and then go from there. Though, this is probably too late to be of any help.

I have decided that I will create a new generator, which will hopefully be available as a download as well as an app for Android and iOS! And it will indeed have multiple poses, expressions, soldier and princess form, but definitely not a male form. Cause that would be an entirely new set of hairstyles, etc. >_<

Then all I can say is that I can't wait until it's out and running properly so I can try it out and brag that I have SOME style and that you've created an even better generator. Still wish I wasn't so lazy. Maybe then I could be of some help and present a few styles and such... I had more in mind, but I just....SERIOUSLY went blank xD Β I feel old ._. Β Nevertheless, good luck and keep me informed! ^.^ <3

I support you to do a version 3, without forget the 2.
I don't know if you remember it, but in your first generator had an option to reposition one of the arms of the doll, it would be great that you again use this idea with the plus that applies in both arms, and in addition also would be great to be able to change the position of the legs (I know that this last is an exaggeration that it is easier to make gloves to shoes)
With this single message I keep the hope of keep there doing what your heart you handed down with respect to the magnificent generators to your created beam.

Stupid laptop I'd written half of a really long comparison of both DollDesigns and your SXv2 doll makers...then my laptop's battery died... To sum it all up...
SXv2 is easier to use, has more options and although Dolls is pretty in it's anime style, I love the Pixel Doll style to the doll in SXv2.
As for SXv3... If you do consider doing a new version i have one request... Please keep the menu style for colours and Hairs... Oooh and allow for the easy changing fringe/bangs to a different colour... That would be a big winning point for me!

I'm with everyone on saying stay with v2, let us be able to have it as close to finished as possible. ^^ Yeah the art on that flash doll is very pretty, But the accessories are nothing you can't do yourself. xD I Love playing with KiSS just to make the perfect senshi. And now that my Neo-scouts are pairing up and having kids of THEIR own, and exploring the ideas of new galaxies, there's plenty more senshi to create with your gen. I've been addicted to your work since Basic, and I fear I may always be so XD <3

I'm with TheVoiceInYourHead. You should finish the one you've been working on. You've had a few generators that were started and never finished, with so many options missing from them. The original never got all the braid options that there is a section for and I've always kinda hoped they'd be added even though V2 is out.
There are a lot of things people have been hoping to see added to SailorX v2 and to start a whole new doll yet again will mean leaving people waiting for certain options.

SailorXv3 In reply to Mewmew34 [2010-01-20 17:38:18 +0000 UTC]
I hear ya. I certainly wouldn't leave you waiting for long without any updates on SXv2 until SXv3 is at least at the same level of complexity. I'm beginning to think that maybe updating both for a while is the way to go...

I'm with the vast majority of your loyal following here when I say that I hope you stick with Xv2.
I like both Xv2 and this new doll for different reasons. DD&DR's doll is "flashy" and "pretty," art-wise, but it's severely limited in options and was very confusing for me to use.
For one, I never knew what color was going to change what item. Even when I figured that out, some colors weren't "right" (there's not a "medium blue," for example), or I had to click back and forth several pages to edit the color for the option I wanted.
As others have mentioned, there are also a TON of features missing from the new doll that I've grown to love from Xv2, even if it does have a cool way of adding new items or styling hair and the like.
While Flash can be very intuitive, the KiSS doll system has this sort of functionality built-in to minimize confusion. I've never had an issue with "where to find" something in Xv2, even if it ends up being grayed out.
Basically, my two cents are thus: stick with Xv2 for now. Add some of the grayed-out items, and then later, if you want to expand even more, or change the art style or even the platform, you can do so knowing you came to a satisfactory point with Xv2 where fans can do a lot and aren't severely limited by what isn't present.
(That said, I don't know if you have to have a certain kind of account to do polls, but you could always ask folks that way what feature should be the next to show up in Xv2, and you can list it according to how easy/realistic it is to add, or go for the Most Wanted feature first, etc.)

I already did a poll a few months back and still remember those results and do let them guide me, when I start working on it again. Which will hopefully be soon. I have the feeling might finish off a few key items in SXv2 before moving on to SXv3 and even then I might still update SXv2 from time to time.

The new generator is very nice looking to be sure and it does have a few options that v2 doesn't. However, it lacks many of the options that v2 does have and it has no where near the color selection. The only real functional edge the new one has over v2 is the more flexible hair style options.
I think I'd prefer you to fill in some more of the greyed out options on v2 before you start on v3. Give us one last new bit to play with while we wait. Other than that, I think improving the art is a perfectly good reason to start over. I do that all the time. And if you know that you want to redo the art, then it's better to do that sooner rather than later; the longer you wait the more you have to do to get v3 up to where v2 ended.
I would stick with KISS though. Flash does have it's advantages, but it's a brand new system you'll have to learn whereas you are already quite familiar with KISS. Also, though I'm no expert on the subject, I've never seen any flash doll that has as many options as some of the KISS dolls I've seen. It may be difficult to have, for example, all the color choices you have now in a flash game. You should go ahead and learn how to use flash if you want to, but it's probably better to start with a smaller project.

Heh, I see wisdom in your words, however... SailorXbasic was my first ever kiSS doll. SailorXv2 was my second. I tend to jump right into these things.
But yes, if I go ahead with SXv3 then I WILL keep you guys and girls going by adding the odd thing here and there for SailorXv2 until SXv3 is ready to replace it.
