I'm using PS CS3 and it has Screen as one of the layer functions but for some reason the sketch doesn't dissapear when I select it. Also, I tried step 3 and used the gradient tool, but it just layed that gradient over the whole picture, thusly obscuring the sketch even from view. Hmmm....Help?
It's okay if your not sure how to help. ^.^ Just thought I'd ask.

hum, the screen layer that has the sketch must be on top of the gradient layer xD .
did you try that ?
And also the sketch shouldn't be only lines on transparent background, it should have a white background with it .
Tell me if it works xD

I have the same problem.... the sketch layer is on top of the gradient and it's on 'screen' AND it has a white background layer to go with it. I don't know why it isn't working, it used to work b/c I used it once right after I found this tutorial just to see if it worked and it did. But it's not working now.

Well the screen layer was on top of the gradient layer, but I didn't have it on a white background yet. I'll fiddle some more and see what I come up with. I did try to do the same method in Paint Shop Pro and it gave slightly better resluts for some reason. Anyway, thanks so much!
Your artwork is so beautiful, if I could just get down half of what you use as techique from your tutorial I'm sure it would go a long ways toward me doing better digital work. ^_^

i have a question about step 3
what do you do if you have pscs3?
what option do i put instead of standard?
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
sakimichan In reply to DarkWolfey17 [2008-10-02 21:41:44 +0000 UTC]
both programs have the same layer functions, so standard would be the same as normal layer format xD .

I don't want to sound rude or something, but it's "et voila" and not "est voila" >_< "est" means "is", "et" means "and"
It's a nice tutorial anyway, I love the colors you used

Do you make your lineart on the computer, or do you sketch it out with pencil and scan it?
I liked the tutorial, it's very helpful. n__n
