For some reason mine doesn't turn out like your tutorial...the screen and gradient layers arent working TTATT I have Open Canvas 4.06plus..the gradient isnt going into the sketch lines...its just over it and the sketch lines are sorta white-ish. I did all the steps right...any ideas why? >.<

you DO use pencil first right? if so... what the hell do you use? XD my pencil work never looks like that. o.o; guess i need to practice a bit more. XP

Awesome, this is exactly the kind of thing I've been wanting to learn how to do with Photoshop- I really love to work in pencil most, but I wanted to do something to my drawings to make them stand out more since most people prefer color works.
I also notice this technique is similar to setting the gradient layer to 'Color' and putting it over the sketch layer with it on 'Normal', except the colors are more muted. I'm not sure what the real difference is between the layer settings and why you prefer 'Screen'.
This is probably a dumb question, but I don't know how to do gradients with more than 2 colors. Is there an easy way to do that?

yeah you do it with 2 color first and just add another layer of color on top XD;; there's no gradient tool with more then 3 colors XD

your tutorial really helped... but i was using PS CS3 , and im new at this kind of thing so it didnt really look like yours... i didnt know how to turn the bg white, and in the end of step 2 my sketch didn't disappear... T_T but thanks, it was really helpful ^__^

This will be very useful! I'm pretty n00bish in digital art. My photoshop sketches, wich tend to be very edgy and rough looking, have not matched with the softness of my colouring style, I will try to learn something from you as soon as I have time

This is a great tutorial! The only problem is I'm not seeing this "Spoon Pen" I have OC 4.5 so it SHOULD be there, but i'm not seeing it D:

I'm not too sure about Oc 4.5 because I only have 4.06 which is the older version or opencnavas.
But I think it should be in there,maybe just under another name?
