4: The Other Girl
While they were talking, suddenly there’s a disturbance in a nearby bookshelf leaving Emma and Henry momentarily puzzled. She realizes that "the riot" is getting closer to them. "What's going on?" she wonders. And then the worst obstacle appears in front of her: another girl.
She was beautiful and lively. Henry seems surprised to see her there, the girl approaches him and says "Hey, did you find the books you need?" Emma could tell that the girl had a natural charm that seemed to draw people to her. That perception led to feeling even more insecure about herself.
"Not all of them yet, they are hard titles to find." Answered. The girl turned to see Emma, asking if she could help them.
— Henry: Oh, I don't want to bother Emma.
"Emma?" asked the girl, who proceeded to extend her hand to Emma with a warm and cynical smile. "Nice to meet you, I'm Martha. I've heard of you before."
— Emma: Oh, really?
Emma tried to force a smile, unsuccessfully. She expected to answer something more cordial but there was something strange about Martha... Something did not give her a good feeling.
