Description
A crop of another older drawing, pen and ink with a little ink wash. I am so crap at lettering.New ones on the way- I'm so chuffed to be drawing again.
Aside from Lovecraft's fictional translator of the dread Necronomicon of the same name, the real Olaus Wormius was a pretty interesting character as well: [link]

It's inspired by writing inspired by H.P. Lovecraft, so I can't take all the credit for imagination. But thanks, I enjoyed drawing it, glad you like it.

... though it's hard to be nastier than the man-faced ratty, I do believe Olaus may be a tad more horrible.

there's some books there i want to read. it seems that you have successfully combined pointillism, cross hatching and pencil shading. not easy. good job! :]

Thanks I think the grey bits are actually ink wash. It's a very old pic, though, and tbh I can't remember.
I used to sooo overwork my pictures, until B.J. Stevens stuffed his own and Dave Carson's work up my nose until I got the concept of white space, lol. I like these cluttery old things, though, lots of happy memories. : )

white space is the devil! it's all over my work and i hate it. not really. i guess you need to find a happy medium, like with all things.

I'm going to try my best not to gush, but I just love the hatching, black space, and linear perspective... it's perfect, it fits

He really was! I love reading about men like that (and women, but there's so few of those from that period, *sigh* )
And thanks, lol, I was sort of making a pun on 'bookworm' at the time. I have terrible sense of humour
