heh, yeah, its a Mk-19 Ammo Box. A Mk-19 (pronounced Mark 19) is a fully automatic 40mm grenade launcher, and is a lot of fun to shoot : ). I just got out of the Army, and we'd use the empty ammo cans for random stuff like this all the time - they're a great water-tight box.

There's a new bump map shadder procedure called Occlusion - it has the same effect as an 3D holography in a flat surface... i was quite impressed when i saw it, you can use a simle box and render SO many details on it with that!

The occlusion is good for texturing you have right!
But this technique is often used for getting a good renderer for the global illmination of your model.

And basicaly in Maya with a hi poly I create a normal map and the "Light And Shaded RGB". You get it with some light arround your model. It's quite usefull for texturing!
