Description
Babel FishThe Babel fish is a fictional species of fish in The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy by Douglas Adams. Over here I have also modelled a theatre to the likeliness of the Babel fish.
"A Babel fish is a highly improbable biological universal translator. It appears as a "small, yellow and leechlike" fish. When a Babel fish is inserted into the ear canal it allows the wearer to "instantly understand anything said... in any form of language." This was both a useful plot device for Adams, who wrote on the subject that he always found the ability of all aliens to speak English very strange."
"The fish feeds on mental energy created while composing a sentence, and apparently excretes mental energy in a form that can be understood by others. It was revealed in the Quintessential Phase that it also, like dolphins, has the power to effectively teleport itself and its host (in a plural zone) out of fatal danger."
"The fish's name refers to the Tower of Babel, a Biblical story, which describes events in Christian and Jewish theology which led to God confusing the languages of Man in order to prevent the Tower's construction, among other things."
"Babel" is composed of two words from the Arabic, "bab" meaning "gate" and "el," "god." Hence, "the gate of god." A related word in Hebrew, "bilbul" means "confusion" or "bilbel" (confused).

Well, I love the Babel Fish reference and the lightning rod idea. As for the theatre, itself, it mildly reminds me Sydney Opera House only a great deal more contemporary

Thanks bella, I enjoyed making this piece, its definately based on a seriously planned theatre. I can imagine why it seems Sydney Opera House resembling. This is however because its a front view, the sails are actually very thin and long, not as curvaceous as that masterpiece.
Thanks for the kind comment, fascinating as usual.
Cheers

Man, that's so creative! Your architectural designs make me think of Home and Gardens Television over here, where they have shows like "Extreme Homes." They have the wildest and neatest designs.

Thanks mate, I know about that thing, but Im too lazy to make a new file and insert a frame, logo etc in new deviations so I placed all in 1 PSD file. Now the unfortunate incident of that half way through of submitting many deviations including a DD was that I noticed many months back was that there was the Exif data. Its identical on every single deviation I've made.
Anyway, you should check this out for any doubts... [link]

Gee, Frank LLoyd Wright would be intrigued. Very nice render! Such an imagination. I read the Hitchhikers guide when I was a youngster. Had a hell of a time keeping up with it. I prefer Piers Anthony for my fantasy.

Thanks! Some of my favourite architects when in school were Michael Graves and bit of Corbusier. Lately I have been really taken in by guys like Del Vaqio and also some folks I work with
Hithikers Guide is one of the very few Sci Fi books I've ever read and loved the tongue in cheek works. Usually I read more of fantasy though.
Have a nice day!
