Description
This is the GP01 (Zephyranthes) from the Gundam 0083: Stardust Memories OVA series. This is actually my favorite Gundam pretty much ever. Basically the same as the original Gundam with a sleeker body and upgraded technology. Not much on frills and firepower. For references on this 3d mesh I used the GFF mostly. This is easily seen in areas like the lower leg, the back of the hand, the feet and the shoulder verniers where it doesn't match the MG version at all. Also in the rear of the waist where there exists a weapons carrier (like for the GM Command). Although the original design is by Shoji Kawamori, the MG and GFF were conceptualized by Hajime Katoki. However, Katoki's influence in the concept (in the MG manual) isn't recreated faithfully in the MG kit as it is in the GFF figure and so I went with mostly the latter in the end... though the MG was a great help. Finally, the weapon being held by the GP01 at the moment is the XBR-L-83d Beam Rifle used by the GP01 in the PS2 game "Mobile Suit Gundam: Encounters in Space".
Couple of errors that I don't have time to fix as I have to go to Sendai for the weekend: There was to be a dust effect on the ground, but the CPU was actually going into it's 40th hour of rendering so I cut it off since there's a blizzard due to hit soon, the beam sabers in the back shouldn't go into the upper body the way they are above and the right leg cuff is disappearing into the ankle. Very strange....
Anyway
Software: Lightwave3D (modelling, rendering), Hexagon (some UV's), Freehand (logos), Photoshop (post).
and...
Gundam is (c) Bandai/Sunrise/Sotsu Agency
Have a good weekend!

The funny thing is that I just ordered a 1/100 scale Mega beam rifle for my MG GP01-FB kit, which amusingly doesn't come with one.

I think B-club made a setup for the GP01 (not the fb strangely) with that gun and modified skirt armor and hands for the 1/144 HG gp01. Tell me how the 1/100 goes. I may try that on the MG myself.

Well, I made my MG GP01 ages ago, but I keep getting distracted from the FB by stuff like my second MG Freedom, 1/100 Destiny kits, and my ongoing V2AB custom... <_<; If it ever goes anywhere, I'll stick pics on DA.

The V2AB would be a sight to see. Are you posting pics on any forums on it?

Don't think I've taken any to be honest. It's based around the MG Wing Ka frame, but using various bits of the V2AB 1/100 HG kits... I then found a Japanese guy who did the exact same thing, only better, but what can you do? X_x

I saw a guy on a couple of forums start the V based on the Wing KA as well, but I haven't heard much from him on it lately.

See, I'm not so fond of the V, only the V2... Though I'm tempted to be lazy and make a V Second... <_<;

I like the V2 ok, but the gundam colors on the V and the small-ish, unimposing stature are what I like. All of the gold on the V2 takes away from it a bit for me, though I did like the WOL concept. I especially dig the assault and buster options. But to see either upgraded a bit as a plastic model would be a godsend to me.

Well, I'll let you know when it's all done. It'll end up on my DA gallery somehow, I'm sure.
Also, which forums are you on, model-wise?

I'm not much on plastic stuff..not my forte. Usually I just stop in at whatever I see on the net so no single forum in particular. But often enough I stop in on MAHQ's forums, Animesuki's, Penetrate, and TTT Arc.

I think those other two are more "popular" so people tend to gravitate towards those two. But lighwave isn't bad at all, personally.

oh, but the coolest is the gundam gerbera before the axis fleet screwed it up. I still like the zaku's and the gelgoogs better than the Gundams though.

sandrum In reply to Gendoikari87 [2006-12-04 04:47:25 +0000 UTC]
Loads of Gelgoog lovers out there would rather have one than a gundam. I'm kind of a style lover, so the gelgoog wouldn't suit me much. Again, I can see where you're coming from though.

Gendoikari87 In reply to sandrum [2006-12-04 04:57:07 +0000 UTC]
Well the gelgoog has it's own style but I would prefer the zaku to the Gelgoog. OH or a Kempfer. That rocks, the best Zaku though is the FZ no doubt.... and it is the ONLY reason to watch 0080, in my opinion.
