Wow, this is a horrific photo. I'll try to take a picture with my manual camera whenever my teacher ( [link] ) hands it back to me.As an added note: My city transit bus driver, the one I give cookies to, who has never seen my artwork, liked this drawing a lot : ) which makes it all worth it. I'll have to bake him some more cookies ^^
Well, I'm off to the grocery store >> I can't keep getting skinner, I can't afford to buy all those new pairs of pants. XD

Materials: EBONY pencil, HB graphite pencil, 18x24 drawing paper. Graphite power, some brush I got on sale : ) Pink Pearl and Tuff Stuff Erasers.

Woooow, your use of values and edges and ummm, atmospheric discoloration (that is SO not it, durn art class a year ago!)... It's just lovely. <333 I love how you captured the nuances of the water and the trees in the far back. There's just enough contrast to make it interesting, too.

did you use any smudging in this at all? I can't really tell because the picture is so small

The whole thing is smudged... I draw & shade, smudge, build up with pencil to get darker/sharper, and then smudge again... then build and smudge some more. I used a paint brush and graphite powder to smudge the background. So only a few marks such as the outlines, highlights in the water, and some of the blades of grass are raw pencil marks, and even they are over blended areas.

XD aha - you do very well. The misty look, perhaps one including atmospheric perspective a bit for feel, is simply wonderful ^^ And seeing the WIP version really made me appreciate the process you went through to get it here!

Since I already commented on the girl on the WIP, I'll focus on the bg here, but the shading on the girl is amazing. @_@
The background is amazing, too. I like how you shaded the grass on the hills because it shows patches of grass being taller than other parts, making it more uneven and natural looking. The grass on all the hills looks so great, it's just...amazing. XDD;
The shading on the water is good, too...again it looks ridiculously real.
I like how the very back background, the trees and whatnot, are very faded away looking, being obscured either by mist(?) or more obviously by distance.
Anyhoo, it all looks superwonderful! 
...also, you made me giggle when you were like "I need to bake him more cookies." after you said your bus driver guy liked it! XD
