Description
Download if you are nosy and want to read. Though it's not finished.I'm using FreeMind to plot some information on oil painting I'm collecting. This is how my brain organizes information. Note: I'm not done with editing or collecting this info, of course. I have a lot of work to do~!
When I start really using a medium, I do a lot of investigation. Like, I usually want to know what the medium is made of, how it will react with other media, common additives to modify the medium, the history of the medium... I read as much as a can and collect the information so I know how the medium will work in different situations. I go to the manufacturer's website, read their suggestions, read packages. I don't know... I suppose it makes me feel like I know what I'm doing XD Research is fun : )
I suppose I'll go back to studying now. *Bah*... I'm going to fail my test Wednesday : ( I know it. Know it. Know it. At least school is canceled so I don't have to go to school tomorrow and can just study. Still going to fail... still. Too much information *cries and continues to state incomplete sentences*

ahh! I've used a program like this before. I don't understand how people can look at this and see organization. I'm more of a word-document-outline person.

It's a java program (so it can be used on just about every platform). You can use it to make mind maps : ) [link]

NO WAY!!! I've been so curious about certain things when it comes to oil painting and now that you have wrote all this up about it, I'm definitely going to be nosy. THanks!

You make me feel bad- I love to try new mediums and when I start I just read a couple tutorials and then make bunches of mistakes until I learn properly. Your way seems more practical. x)

Actually, I'm beginning to think my method is a bit obsessive-compulsive. XD I still have to do experiments after research, because there is a gap between theory and practice. But, I find this way minimizes the cost of art supplies I must buy because I've messed up : )

You really do sound proffesional when you do your tutorials, you might wanna make books of this stuff someday and sell it, I know I would buy one of your books ^^

Thanks.
Well, I'm rather thorough when I have time to be, and since my tutorials are refreshers for me as well as my readers, I've got to cover all bases. : ) The book is coming along very very slowly...

Usually, I work on paper to organize it so it looks a bit messier : )
Thanks very much for the luck. *huggle*
