Numix is a part of the Numix Project .

To set the theme in Xfce, run the following commands in Terminal,

xfconf-query -c xsettings -p /Net/ThemeName -s "Numix"
xfconf-query -c xfwm4 -p /general/theme -s "Numix"

Support

Please a drop a mail to team@numixproject.org if you have any problems or queries. We'll try to respond as quickly as possible.

Requirements

GTK+ 3.14
Murrine theme engine

Known issues

Overlay Scrollbars cause black areas to appear at various places in Ubuntu.

To disable overlay scrollbars, run the following command,

gsettings set com.canonical.desktop.interface scrollbar-mode normal

To fix the small font issue in LibreOffice Calc sheet tabs, create a file .gtkrc-libreoffice in your home folder with the following content,

style "libreoffice-scrollbar" {
GtkScrollbar::trough-border = 3
}

widget_class "*" style "libreoffice-scrollbar"

Then launch libreoffice with the following command,

GTK2_RC_FILES=$HOME/.gtkrc-libreoffice libreoffice

Older versions

If you are using GTK3.12, please download the theme from GitHub

If you are using GTK3.4, please download the theme from Launchpad

The theme is a bit unusable on Ubuntu 14.04 LTS with Unity.

Issue 1: The theme cannot be changed using System settings ->Appearance -> Theme.
Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β  Because it doesn't appear there.

So I installed Ubuntu tweak tool to change the theme and I got a whole different issue.

Issue 2: After changing to Numix theme, the boxes around the icons on unity launcher disappear(along with animations). The only way to fix this is by going to System settings ->Appearance -> Theme. When I get there, the default selection of theme drop down box is empty. After I change it to 'Ambiance' or any other default theme, the boxes around those icons reappear and icon animations start to work again.

Please let me know if you want me to include any screenshots. I'd be happy to provide them.

About Issue 1, Ambiance and Radiance are hardcoded to the settings Β and we cannot add new entries.

Issue 2, it's a design decision to remove the boxes in the launcher, not a bug.

I purchased this theme so that I could use the Dark Flat Numix. I am using Ubuntu 12.04, and I extracted the dark theme to /usr/share/themes as instructed and set it with the terminal commands also listed in the help. Instead of black, everything becomes gray and squarish like on windows 95. I believe something is wrong with it. I tried setting the permissions on the theme folder so that I could set the theme using unity-tweak, which also made the same effect. Can I please have some help with getting my theme working? Thanks.

Also, the regular numix theme, which I installed via ppa is working fine. It's just the dark theme. Also, is there a difference between dark flat and regular dark? I would have purchased the dark flat if I had found it first on the ubuntu software center.

Did you use the version for GTK3.4?

Get in touch with me on team@numixproject.org and we'll try to solve the issue.

You have to replace the launcher icon manually. Unity doesn't support replacing it.

Hi! Thanks a lot for this delightful theme!

I was just wondering what may be causing my Unity left-bar, to display the square background on each icon after successfully installing your icon theme. I'm on Ubuntu 13.10 with Unity and can't seem to remove them in unity-tweak-tools nor any other settings menu. I could also notice that the Numix GTK theme does not apply the same colour palette/button distribution on regular Nautilus windows. Any clue?

Β‘Nice theme!, the only issue I find is a dark zone in Evince PDF reader, it is the "miniature" menu, it shows black but when you put the cursor on it, it shows in the correct way (In Gedit happen something similar in the tab bar). I wish you can make the theme borderless. Β‘Saludos!

Is there a way to adjust the alpha level on the panel? As in which .css file do I have to edit?

It's a design decision mostly due to the tab redesign in gtk3.12.

I've Numix Dark theme installed in Linux Mint 17 and I don't like the orange color the theme uses for highlighting icons and such (as an example, in the photo above previewing Numix, the file window has the 'Home' item highlighted in orange). Where, and in which file, can I change the color to something else? When responding, please keep in mind that I'm brand new to Linux.

Your website used to have a section with the hex color codes used on Numix Theme, but now, with the new design, you've removed that.

Please, would you mind providing me those codes? I'm working on a project here and I would like to use Numix colors so it matches the rest of my system theme (Unity).

Hey, guys.

First of all, as I mentioned before, I loved the new style for the dash icons. Very, very cool! However, I confess that, for the icons that are not part of the Numix-Square theme which I use, for example, it gets a little weird. I mean, not weird, different from the rest, I'd say.

Since there's nothing that emphasizes the icons (like a border, a shadow or whatever) anymore, when there are icons different from the main theme on the dash (i.e.: external hard drive, flash drive, the dash home icon itself), it seems that they don't belong there, you know what I mean? They just look different.

Sorry, I'm not sure if I've made myself clear. Anyway, that's just my opinion. Maybe there could be a very thin border for each icon; maybe two vertical borders only, with a very sutle glow coming from them towards the icon. Even one border only, on the top of the icon or to right of it. I don't know, I'm just drifting. Something that would make all icons similar on the dash, even if they are different. But, of course, you don't have to agree with me. (lol)

Well, that's it. Please, don't get me wrong; I just wanted to give you a feedback on this new approach you've created.

Thanks for your time, guys. Keep up the great work.

At least for now we have no plans to revamp the boxes around the icons in the Unity launcher. We may or may not do this in the future, but for now they will stay boxless.
We have tested the boxless design with both circle ans square and it does look good on both.
Cheers!

bcsmagalhaes In reply to me4oslav [2014-05-05 17:52:16 +0000 UTC]

Hi, me4oslav. Thanks for your reply. Yes, I agree with you. The boxless design does look good with both Square and Circle icon themes. It is clean and beautiful. I really like it.

IMHO, the problem, if I can call it a problem, is with non-Circle or non-Square icons. As I said before, it goes perfectly with the Circle/Square icons, but with icons that are not part of the Circle/Square themes, it doesn't look so good. The Numix Icon Theme, for example, which is base for the Circle/Square themes, doesn't have circle/square icons, which leads to a "patternless" look of the Unity launcher with boxless icons. That's my point. But that's just my opinion. I don't want to be pain.

I understand you have no plans to revamp it, but would you consider, at least, offering a "mod" version of the theme, with the default boxed icons back, for example? I mean, an option for those who want the icons like they used to be. And, for those who want it boxless, they would go with the default Numix theme. What do you think?

Or, I don't know, if I can do it by myself, I mean, put the boxes back to the launcher icons, by tweaking the theme code, that's OK with me. Please, just let me know what to do and I do it. No problem.

Thanks for your time. I appreciate it.

me4oslav In reply to bcsmagalhaes [2014-05-06 13:52:53 +0000 UTC]

Boxes are svg files, so no need for code tweaking. We may consider boxed assets in the future, but not for know, 'cause making such assets takes time and we would invest that time in fixing something broken, rather than providing a mod for something that's not really broken.

By the way, I guess I found a little bug, I'm not sure...

When there's more than one window open for the same program, the indicator on the left side of the launcher icon gets blurry, as you can see in the screenshot:

postimg.org/image/pengumemp/

If you zoom in, the blur is completely noticeable.

As I said before, I don't know if it's a bug. Anyway, I hope it helps.
