Name: Ekid, Ekimera

Type: Poison/Fairy

Name Origin: Echidna + Kid
Echidna + Chimera

Inspiration: Echidna (both the animal and the mythological character), other monotremes like the platypus, chimeras (both the mythological and modern sense of the word), the creatures of Avatar: The Last Airbender

For the first stage I wanted to combine the real life echidna with the mythological mother of monsters. The second stage is based on chimeras, both the child of Echidna in Greek myth and the modern sense of the word which refers to any creature made up of a combination of other organisms. The platypus was perfect for this as it is a relative of the echidna and was originally thought to be a taxidermy chimera, similar to the jackalope, when specimens were first sent to western researchers. Chimeric creatures featured prominently in Avatar: The Last Airbender and one of the most memorable of these was the platypus bear so I used a bit of that in the design as well. The poison typing is based on both the snake on its tail and the venomous spurs on male platypus but these Pokemon would also learn a variety of ground, water, and electric moves.
