Arist's Notes: This sketch is just meant to be a teaser of things to come. I've had an idea for my own Pokémon region in my head for a while now and was inspired last year to start working on it. I don't know how many Pokémon there will be total but it should be something around 150 (I haven't taken a tally yet as the number changes whenever I get new ideas or realizethat two ideas I had are too similar to each other) and I already have dozens of sketches of potential Pokémon designs. The starters were the most difficult and the most fun to design. In addition to following what fans consider the common themes of starter Pokémon; Grass= extinct organism, Fire= animal from the Chinese zodiac, Water= weapon (the last one has always been the least convincing to me), I designed the starters of all three types with an overarching theme, let's see if anyone can guess what it is. I am very pleased with how the basic forms of each starter line came out but the second and third stages are still subject to change. I am very excited about this project and I hope to show you more some time this year.
