Description
After few months Sarafina give birth to her daughter Nala, almost at the same time the future king Simba was born as well. Their mothers became very close friends and met each other as often as possible for a talk and spending time with their newborn together.
But Sarabi noticed that Sarafina and Scar weren`t often see together.

"How do you feel Sarafina" Sarabi asked. "You don`t look very happy today. Is anything with Nala?"
"No, she is very fine as you see...It`s just..." Sarafina looked behind her. Scar was laying on a rock having a nap.
"He almost only sleeps at day and when I woke up in the night he is gone. I don`t know where he is going, but it seems he is avoiding me."
Sarabi saw Sarafina`s sad eyes. "Well, it was a very quick desicion he made..."
Sarafina nodded: "And I am very thankful for this, but at least I hoped we would try to learn to be a team. My parents also only marriage because of a betrothal made by their parents. But they learnt to be a good couple and I think they even loved each other later. My mother never regret anything." The lionesses sighed. "But Scar even doesn`t talk to me or anything else. No word, no smile, no touch, nothing. We are still strangers and believe me I really tried to be a good mate for him and I don`t know what I did wrong."
"I doubt that you did anything wrong, Sarafina. You are a beautiful, kind, intelligent, young lioness. One day he will notice that. I am very sure. Many lions would be happy to have a mate like you."
Sarafina smiled. "You are lucky with Mufasa, aren`t you?"
"Yes, I am. Very lucky."
Sarafina looked to Scar again.
"But you know", Sarabi continued. "Mufasa and I had the chance to wait and listen to our feelings."
Sarafina nodded again and started to clean her daughter. The infant starts giggling as her mother`s tongue brushed the tiny body. "But I won`t give up, Sarabi. I have a family now and I will care for it. I will be a good mother and a good mate."

Before people wonder about Sarafina expections, in the past it was very normal to be betrothed by the parents (and in some areas of the world it is still normal). It doesn`t always end in a tragedy for those people because of their education and socialization they still feel connected to their partners.
True love is a luxury they don`t see as a necessary thing because it`s not usual for having a partner, family and comfortable life in their society.
So for Sarafina it is normal to expect a loving and caring behavior from her mate during a marriage. It is also normal for her to treat Scar (even if she doesn`t have strong feelings for him as person) like a mate.
