I don't want to sound rude and I totally respect your right to your own opinion, but I don't think praying is a a one-sided conversation. at least not the way I pray! The Holy Spirit talks back, its all a matter of listening for it! I don't want to start some religious argument because you have the right to believe what you believe just like I do. However, you might want to be careful with this. I found it a little offensive and some others may as well. I hope I'm not sounding preachy, but I would appreciate it if you would be respectful of others' faith. And I'll try to be respectful of your beliefs too!

Offensive? I don't think so. You see my deviation is submited under Digital Art / Miscellaneous / Humourous.
More than that, a proper christian believer would never be offended by something like this, or by anything. In Christianity there is no need to take offence in anything, that's the true meaning of a love and caring religion. Same thing applies to all religions. Christ himself tought these things, I am not offended by people believing in God and praying, so neither should the believers be offended by me I'm always open to proper discussion, and that's exactly why I'm making things like this, I want to get people motivated to have conversations around these matters, that's all.

u may not find it offensive, but I do. I'm sorry, thats just the way I feel. And if you wanted people to be motivated and start conversations, then shouldn't some opposition be welcome? I didn't want to hurt your feelings or cause some great debate, but I'm just a little tired of Christians being picked on. And while I know God certainly doesn't need me to stand up for him, I just wonder why it is alright to say things against Christianity, but then we Christians can't debate back and feel a little hurt... oh no, there I go again. Please don't be offended. I guess I shouldn't have said I'm offended cuz that would offend you and make both of us defensive. I'm sorry. I won't say anything more. Like I said, You have the right to your opinions just like I have mine.
if I hurt your feelings, I'm sorry. I won't comment any more if it bothers you. in arguments like these, nobody wins, but both sides can get hurt. I'll keep my feelings to myself from now on

To this I use the standard response (no intended offense)
If you speak to an imaginary person, you're insane, but if you believe you're speaking to some holy entity, you're spiritual.
The only reason I say this is because how do you explain people claiming to speak to false gods other than delusion or insanity.
Sometimes it's best to look at the outside looking in perspective.

Checker-Bee In reply to PlayfulElegy [2011-06-11 11:22:01 +0000 UTC]
well, I don't think I'll ever be able to look at it from an outside perspective. I know in my heart that God is not an "imaginary person." It may be difficult to explain how he is real (one of the many reasons I go to Church. I have so much to learn still!) but its not something I can explain easily with science but could explain with logic if I had a few hours and Mark Driscol (my preacher) to help me out!(lol!) So for now, we can just agree to disagree
I guess all I'm asking is if you could be a little more respectful to we insane people
and one way I like to think of it is if Christians believe we go to Heaven after we die and aeithiests believe we don't really go anywhere, then what have I got to loose? I go to Heaven or I cease to exist without knowing it! Either way I know life (or lack there of) after this life can't get any worse! s'all good!

And muslims believe you go to hell, the ancient greeks believe you go to tartarus, etc.
Remember, your god is not the only possibility. You're no better off believing in christianity than in any other religion.
Also, you're ignoring life before death. If you were wrong, then that means you wasted time that could have been spent bettering the world.
The further argument goes that if god was really just, he wouldn't punish someone forever simply for not believing and worshiping in him.

DARN THIS IS GETTING RELIGIOUS OHMAHGAWD.
And no, God wouldn't punish someone for not believing.
If they were raised to not believe and stuff He won't punish.
All beliefs are different. ^3^

That reminds me a of a joke.
A missionary has traveled all the way to this enute village in hopes of spreading the 'good' word. But the people won't even talk to him until he talks to the village leader. So he goes and finds the guy ice fishing in this remote part north or the village.
The two of them start talking and the missionary explains everything he is offering.
The village leader listens and mulls it over, then he asks a question.
"First tell me, there have been those of my people who have died before you came here. They did not know of this hell you speak of. Have they gone there not knowing of it?"
The missionary not terribly used to questions, thinks for a moment and says:
"No I can't see all loving god sending someone to hell for not knowing about his word and teachings."
The village leader frowns a bit and then looks at the missionary.
"Then why did you tell me!?"

The muslim part was talking about those who don't believe in the almighty allah (Which is the general belief though this changes from sect to sect).
You probably belong to a different sect than the other person I was talking with, so you're stance doesn't present (Though your beliefs sound a lot more intelligible than the generic forms of the biggest religions of these days).
Though I have to ask why someone has to be raised to not believe, does this also include adults who are convinced that your deity does not exist, or do they go to hell?
And further, how do you establish hell as (eternal torture, or simply being away from god?)
There's a lot of factors that switch between sects, and that does affect how I feel about your stances.

I do not accept Jesus.
I love my friends, my family, and I will always stand by them.
I'd take a bullet for them.
I stand by what's right, even if everyone thinks it's wrong.
I don't judge people by their sexuality or race.
I try to motivate others, to make sure they know it's okay to be who you are.
I'll save the victim of a bully, even if that victim dislikes me and I dislike them.
When I go to your 'Hell', I'll walk up to Lucifer, extend my hand, and tell him this:
"I belong here. Do your worst."

okay listen everyone is going to get a chance to hear the gospel it is their choice whether they choose to accept it or not. God loves us and respects those choices, if you choose not to accept him then he respects that but there are consequences for those choices. Jesus came fully human and fully God to save us for our sins, we were meant to die the death that he died but he took the punishment for us

Yes, because finite crime deserve infinite punishment, especially when god is the root cause of all sin, seeing as he was the one that bothered to put the tree in the garden of eden in the first place, didn't bother to stop satan from temping eve, and didn't give them knowledge of good or evil, so they would recognize that defying him is evil.
Just keep on trying to justify your backwards system of 'justice', it's really entertaining.

it wasn't God who caused sin because God cannot sin. Sin came into the world because we as humans chose to go against God.

Yes, and choosing to be away from god means you'll be tortured forever. Clearly god couldn't get people in on his own glory, and he has to resort to coercion.
And by the way, since god created EVERYTHING, that means he created sin, unless you would like to say that sin is of equal power to god, as it would have to be around when he was around.

animegeek2008 In reply to PlayfulElegy [2011-06-14 05:36:57 +0000 UTC]
Going to Hell just means that you will be separated from God forever. Also God did not create sin since sin is evil. Sin was brought into the world when Adam and Eve disobeyed God.

PlayfulElegy In reply to animegeek2008 [2011-06-14 05:44:47 +0000 UTC]
So you believe something other than the mainstream religion, and what you define as hell is not hell.
And again, adam and eve would have known not to disobey god if they knew what evil was (they had no knowledge of good or evil). God is still partially at fault for sin in that case.

animegeek2008 In reply to PlayfulElegy [2011-06-14 06:00:33 +0000 UTC]
well no I still believe that there is Hell and Hell is our punishment. But when you are in Hell you are separated from God for eternity. I imagine Hell with flames.

PlayfulElegy In reply to animegeek2008 [2011-06-14 06:21:05 +0000 UTC]
So it is eternal punishment, and eternal torture in combination with the separate.
Now what we have here is a finite 'crime' being reacted to with eternal punishment, which in never just, as nothing short of an infinite crime could deserve infinite punishment.
Again, it's just badgering to try and coerce people to worship your personal deity. No good being would ever use eternal punishment for anything, as no infinite crime could be performed by finite beings.
Furthermore:
Deut. 24:16 Fathers shall not be put to death for their children, nor children put to death for their fathers; each is to die for his own sin.
If this is the case, then why do we bear the weight of the 'crime' of adam and eve?

animegeek2008 In reply to PlayfulElegy [2011-07-04 05:43:24 +0000 UTC]
first of all that is in the old testament you should read what the new testament has to say and also with that verse you have to look at the context of it. We bear the weight of adam and eve sinning because they were the ones who chose to go against God and so sin was brought into the world. We are all born into sin.

I would like evidence that this adam or eve actually existed please.
Next I would like to know why I am subject to a sacrifice that I neither asked for, nor was a part of, and why this sacrifice somehow negates the 'sin' (what ever the fuck 'sin' is sposta be..) of a rib woman not being picky enough about her dietary selections from a talking snake that was also a fruit salesman.
Fuck, I would like to know why that snake was in this "perfect garden" in the first place, after all, that's like putting a rabid pit bull in with the baby isn't it?
Finally. I'm not against abortion, however (holds up baby) how can you say that this innocent creature is "born into sin"?
A baby doesn't have enough brain matter yet to yet understand what is "right" or "wrong" let alone this abstract concept that is thrown around called 'sin'.
I want these questions answered. And I want them answered in a manner that doesn't resort to the following.
A)The bible. It's crap.
B)Apologetics. That's also Crap.
C)Logical Fallacies.
No Ad homs, no Ad Hocks, strawmen, or arguments from authority.
If you proceed to do so, may your imaginary friend help you.

Oh, you mean how jesus comes to say that he came to fulfill the law, not to remove it?
Or how about how about when he tells you to sell all your possessions? or maybe how you're supposed to put him before your family and friends?
I'm sorry, but you are not born into sin. What that assumes is that by existing, one is sinful, and if that was the case, the most humanitarian thing to do is to kill all people right after they convert so they go to heaven, and sterilize everyone else so no more people come along with the potential to go to hell. Who cares if you're going to hell, you're saving souls, and if you're not willing to do that, then you aren't truly willing to give up everything to help people be with god. Congrats on being a hypocrite.
If your god will punish people for existing, then hell is much better than heaven would ever be. So go on back to giving your personal deity a rim job and let those of us who don't believe in your malarkey be.
I'm going to say it now, your god is a douche and I'd rather burn forever than have to worship at his feet for eternity.

They had no choice. They never knew. So, in turn, they get sent to your "Hell".
Explain to my why your god would be so cruel. Why he would send the ignorant to a place of suffering and pain. All because they never knew.

Just to clear one thing up. Hell was not made for humans. It was made for Satan and his angels. Yes satan was an angel and so are all the demons. And God doesn't want anyone to go to hell. Thus Jesus came to Earth, died on the cross and rose from the dead 3 days later(He went to Hell after dying to be punished for our sins). Jesus formed the bridge between Heaven and Earth. So if you do not know that the bridge is there or believe that the bridge is there, how can you cross it? The knowing part is every Christian's job because when Jesus left he told the believers to spread the word. If a person went to Hell because he/she didn't know about Jesus, then its a Christian's fault not his/hers. But if he/she went to Hell because he/she knows but does not believe, its still a Christian's fault for not reaching out to him/her more. So if anyone's to blame for people going to Hell, its us Christians.
