Description
If offended, please try to think before you speak. It's a serious question asked in a reasonable way. In modern days NOBODY would believe her. The fact that people "believed" her back then can only imply three things :1. She was really telling the truth and had undeniable evidence
2. She lied, her husband knew she was lying but in order to avoid public humiliation they all covered it up and the lie went out of control (lol)
3. Aliens kidnaped her but who would believe that aliens exist?
Seriously people, it's a joke. Try to laugh and throw away that misery. If writing a nasty comment makes you happy so be it. At least I'll know that either way I made good.

I believe it was artificial insemination or how ever it's spelled. By guess who? the angels (aliens). But as my dad always tells me, we may never know. The bible has been edited and translate so many times, it could be completely different from the original. It's crazy, the people we based religions off of centuries ago would be commited today.

why the most evil and terrible creature would come in his real form?
it came in the shit form of a baby in a stupid virgin(my religion hates virgins,so,i hate my self),and then,it came in a form of a youg human with knowledge and sayin' things like
''give to caesar what is of caesar''
and then,''he dies for us''
blah!lies lies and lies!

Or 4) It was something made up to make his birth seem magical after he became famous (something ancient rulers did often to get justification for their power). Wasn't the whole virgin-birth thing something that came along later when the myth of Jesus was being established?
I seem to recall reading that the early Christians didn't consider it important, if they even were aware of it, and the bible doesn't make a big deal about it (apart from the story about his birth).

Logically: If someone's wife gets pragnant by somebody else, that breaks the marriage, so should stay with the original father and is also reasonable since the father must be loving her more and can raise the baby. Question if it is good to have a little talk with the father.
I would forgive it if the little kid can do some magic and prove the father.

My pastor brought this up one time during a sermon.
It was...interesting to say the least.
He said, "If my wife said something like that to me I'd call bullshit and send her off to a mental institution."
As a religious person myself, I actually thought no one believed her back then. (Besides, if she went around saying she got pregnant by God, she'd probably be stoned to death.)

Yeah, I'm actually certain that so called holy men and shaman suffered from schziophrenia, but back then folks were so superstitious that their crazy talk was taken by gospel.

Paternity test Pater is a Greek word and means father but also for some weird reason, here in Greece people use it as a title for all the priests.

Did not read the other pieces, so forgive if this was said before.
Her husband did NOT believe her. He planned to divorce her. However, he was visited by an angel who explained she was sincere. I do not believe they publicly announced her baby was God's child, instead her husband was said to be the father.
I'm not here to argue. What I'm here to say is that the situation was handled very much like it would be today. I am sure people would think she was crazy and not believe her--so I don't imagine she would tell many people. If her husband believed her, for whatever reason, they would just claim the child was his. I think this is typically how many "unwanted pregnancies" are handled, where a girl gets in trouble, finds a man who cares for her, and they decide to raise the child together.

I'll set all the joke and fun aside for a minute because I trully appreciate comments like yours. My opinion is that the truth stands somewhere in the middle. Maybe the kid was his, maybe it wasn't but people that focused their faith on the fact that Jesus came from a virgin birth, may have lost the point. I trully believe that even if they didn't present it as a virgin birth, if they presented him as a common human, he would still be able to do everything he did. Maybe some less people would believe him but still, Christianity would be today more or less, the same.

Mirz123 In reply to Sc1r0n [2011-07-30 22:02:40 +0000 UTC]
Well, mysticism aside, I was simply addressing what you said in the comments. My point is that things really aren't that different than they were thousands of years ago. Technology and that, sure. But people and their beliefs are pretty much the same. If you believe the bible, Jesus was raised as a normal kid by his parents. He was not presented as God. There was no bragging about the virgin nature of his birth.
I honestly think more non-believers focus on his virgin birth than believers. Particularly since a lot of Christians simply don't believe Mary was a virgin. I think it's like a lot of things--when people are looking to pick-apart something, they look for the weak spots, and a virgin birth seems like a good achilles' heel. But, ultimately the virginity was less about Jesus and more about his mother, meaning she was pure of heart and body. Whether she was actually a virgin at that time, or ceased to be later, is not really the point, since ultimately the characterization speaks more to her character. I don't think the virgin birth adds or detracts from Jesus at all.
Thank you for taking the time to respond respectfully to me and share your POV.

But every time I sacrificed I felt butterflies in my stomach, which were my intuitive senses telling me that it was all in vain.
