Idea is mine, though based on the Tournament of Mortals...Alex Mercer: A walking pathogen, the man who calls himself Alex Mercer is really just a virus taking his form. Mercer will kill and absorb all in his path on his quest to remake humanity in his image.
Shadow: Shadow was created to be the ultimate lifeform. A master of chaos energy and one of Sonic's most powerful rivals, Shadow wields the power of the Chaos Emeralds, but seeks a purpose for his power.
Now, the ultimate plague and the ultimate lifeform will have a battle to the bitter end. Will the virus overtake Shadow, and consume him from within? Or will the powers of chaos eliminate the contagion once and for all? There's only one way to find out if we ever want to know who is...
THE DEADLIEST MORTAL!
Finally, in a classic 'To the Victor Goes the Spoils', after you pick a winner, pick something for them to take from the loser. It may be something as simple as a piece of equipment, to something as complex as a power. I'm just curious what you all would say.

Shadow, but mostly through the power of Chaos energy.

Shadow is faster, more powerful and immune to diseases. on top of that he can augment his abilities with chaos energy and can go super which makes him 1000 times faster, stronger and completely invulnerable. as well as having stronger chaos abilities capable of warping reality.

Β People seem to forget the fact that Shadow doesn't need to touch Mercer at all to kill him. Shadow could just use any one of his Chaos-based powers: Chaos Spear, Chaos Lance, etc.: and be done with it. And don't try to tell me that he would just regenerate back from it, a nuclear bomb nearly killed him, he had to use a nearby crow to save himself. Shadow's destructive force>a nuclear bomb. Besides, how is Mercer going to so much as touch Shadow with that pathogen to begin with? Yeah, Shadow's arrogant, but not that kind of arrogant: he's not letting Mercer get a hit in. And given that he can run at hypersonic speeds and more likely than not has light-speed reflexes? This is a clear victory for Shadow before taking into account his Super Saiyan ripoff or the fact that he can just stop time. Mercer doesn't even have a weapons advantage, Shadow has f-ing lightsabers from the Black Arms! Sorry Mercer, but someone else gets to have your powers from now on.

This is a hard call but since Mercer is pathogenic and adaptive every wound he inflicts either absorbs a little bit of Shadow or infects Shadow.Β Just a few exchanges and Mercer would gain all of Shadow's powers and memories even if he didn't directly kill him.Β There is a slim chance that Shadow could win if he was smart enough and got the upper hand early enough.Β It doesn't look good for him though.

Alex. Shadow may be good, but he just doesn't have the destructive power to end Alex Mercer and eradicate the virus.

It wouldn't be a good idea for Shadow to fight Mercer in close range since Alex is physically stronger and would easily overpower Shadow, while Shadow has speed on his side, it just wouldn't be enough,Β I think the only chance Shadow has of winning is using his Super Form, but he'd have to act quick as it has a short limit, chances are Alex would have what it takes to avoid it and I don't think Shadow has done such destructive power to destroy Mercer,Β considering the guy survived a nuke and regenerated.
Alex Mercer should take this.

I agree with your category decisions, but do any of them take into account that every time these two will make contact, there's more and more pathogen entering Shadow?Β Admittedly, his biology is pretty bizarre, but with Alex (or Blacklight, however you identify him) mucking around with his insides, and being able to track him, and Shadow not even aware of the microscopic threat (as per the rules of Death Battle, no time to study opponents), I give it to Alex.
