Description Idea is mine, though based on the Tournament of Mortals.

It must be nice to have super powers. Being able to move faster then light, or strong enough to lift mountains... if only you didn't have to deal with all those pesky villains.

Superman: The Man of Steel. The Last Son of Krypton. No matter what you want to call him, Clark Kent aka Superman is one of DC Earth's mightiest heroes. And yet, for all his amazing power, he chooses to act selflessly for the good of the many.

Shadow: What was created in an attempt to surpass Sonic would in many ways meet that goal. Shadow is fast, strong, and able to manipulate the power of Chaos to astonishing effect. And yet he is tormented by the past, forever seeking purpose.

Now these two Super-Beings are gonna get in the cage with each other, and duke it out like there's no tomorrow (of course, for one of them that might be true)! Can Superman beat a being that can teleport him across space with the snap of his fingers? Can Shadow hope to vanquish a foe that can fling mountains like they were paper cups? Who know? Either way, only one can become--

THE DEADLIEST MORTAL!

Finally, in a classic 'To the Victor Goes the Spoils', after you pick a winner, pick something for them to take from the loser. It may be something as simple as a piece of equipment, to something as complex as a power. I'm just curious what you all would say.

*I apologize if Shadow's intro is a little vague. I've never really played a whole lot of Sonic games, so I don't know all of his backstory and motivations.

(Disclaimer: Just to be clear, these two combatants were created / are owned by people far more creative / wealthier then me. I have made this, not for profit, but in the hopes of encouraging spirited discussion among fans. Please support the combatants official series. Thank you, that is all).

Superman. Not even a contest. Seriously, Shadow is an emo rodent with seven glowing rocks that only give him a time-limited power boost.

Superman has better Pre-Battle, Long Range, Close Range, and Defense. He takes the Physical, Mental, and Preparation X-Factors.

Shadow has better Mid Range, Chaos Control, and Transformation. He takes the Psychological and Energy Potential X-Factors.

Conclusion: Superman wins

Well, he is faster. I suppose that unless there happens to be a black hole nearby that he can teleport Superman into, Supes would win.

Super Shadow's Chaos Lance attacks can damage a god. I think it's safe to assume they can harm Superman.

Fair enough.

Ah, but what about Heat Vision, which burns hotter then some stars, and which Superman can (apparently) use to incinerate whole planets (I'm told) at Maximum power?

Hmmm... That's interesting.

It would be funny to see Superman try and follow Shadow with his laser eyes as he flies around at super sonic speeds.

Let me ask you something. Why is Superman vulnerable to magic? How does it affect him?

ScarecrowsMainFan In reply to Aqua311 [2012-12-21 07:46:27 +0000 UTC]

Ah, an excellent question! I ca offer no better explanation then this one I found:

"While not so much an actual weakness, Superman's invulnerability offers no protection against magic. The explanation for this is simple; Superman's powers, extraordinary as they are, are the result of natural phenomenon, not supernatural. As a result, spells cast on Superman affect him the same as they would anyone else. This sometimes goes so far as enchanted weapons being able to subvert his invulnerability as well. Generally, he suffers the vulnerability provided he is directly attacked with magic."

I see, I think. So Superman's only invincible against physical attacks.

So would Shadow's chaos-based energy attacks bypass his invulnerability?

On a related topic, in the Sonic Chronicles RPG, Shadow's Chaos Spear attack has the effect of piercing heavily armored foes.

Energy isn't magic.

If he got hit with a blast of concentrated energy from a non-magical origin, no matter what kind, it would NOT subvert his invulnerability.

Also, Superman has been shown to go as fast (or almost as fast) as The Flash, who is literally the fastest character ever created (can travel through time because of his speed). Superman could more than easily catch Shadow travelling "Super Sonic Speed" as well.

He also has freeze-breathe, which has been noted as being capable of restraining Doomsday (A villain that put Superman into a regenerative coma for a period of time).

Superman has defeated Gods before, I'm pretty sure some little Sonic character stands absolutely no chance against one of the greatest (and most powerful) super hero's of all time.

I wouldn't say invincible, but more like Highly Durable. This also applies to energy or explosive based attacks. Superman is able to cup a grenade in his hands and contain the explosion, and has been shot by tanks.

Energy attacks certainly do more damage then physical based attacks. So, while Shadow's Chaos Energy doesn't bypass the Kryptonian durability completely, it will do some damage.

It is entirely possible that an energy spear can cut Superman's skin, as highly focused lasers have been shown to do so in the past.

In the battle against Devil Doom, when Shadow used Chaos Control to slow down time, he could really deal extensive damage while the effect lasted and his opponent was helpless to stop him.

It would be interesting to see Superman strain himself to move at high speeds to keep up with Shadow after time had slowed down, allowing the hedgehog to hammer him with rapid fire or fully charged Chaos Spears or a barrage of the more powerful Chaos Lance.

That's true, Shadow could do some serious damage to Supes that way... if he gets that far. Supes tends to hold back in order not to seriously hurt someone. If he thinks his opponent can take his full might (rare, but not unheard of) he'd go all out.

If Shadow isn't careful, Superman will lobotomize him with Heat Vision.

Shadow's the Ultimate Life Form. He can't truly die.

And he holds back as well, so long as he wears those Inhibitor Rings on his wrists.

If Shadow were to find out a location with kryptonite, he could teleport Superman there and the fight would be finished with one quick snap of the neck.

Superman's weaknesses appear to be kryptonite, magic and darkness, because he's solar powered.

Don't get me wrong, I know Superman has the advantage in this fight.

So if this were a battle with no preparation, Kent would likely win (although with more than a few cuts and bruises), but if there was time for preparation, Shadow could have Rouge find kryptonite for him and then the tables could easily be turned whenever he wished.

Shadow would win. Why?

A type of rock can give Shadow ultimate power.

A type of rock strips Superman of his powers.

One quick, faster than light, neck snap and it's all over.

If you see the Screwattack Death Battle "Vegeta VS Shadow", Vegeta wins. And I'm saying this is pretty similar...

Aqua311 In reply to totalgymvssonic [2012-11-05 19:33:01 +0000 UTC]

That death battle sucked! It was totally out of character for Shadow to teleport Vegeta to all those places. It makes no sense, it's cowardly and it's a waste of energy.

If anything, he should have teleported Vegeta and then used the Ark's Eclipse Cannon to wipe him out like he did to the Black Comet.

Even if Vegeta tried to counter the Eclipse Cannon's with a beam of his own, the seven Chaos Emeralds have unlimited power. Vegeta would lose his strength eventually.

totalgymvssonic In reply to Aqua311 [2012-11-06 01:13:00 +0000 UTC]

In base forms, Vegeta would pretty much just turn Shadow into hamburger anyways. If you put SUPAR INVINCIBLE ITEMS for one guy, it's just stupid regardless of what's going on...and don't Chaos Emeralds also run out sometimes? Like they did in the video and in several of the games?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Aqua311 In reply to totalgymvssonic [2012-11-06 01:37:22 +0000 UTC]

Shadow is the Ultimate Life Form. He can't die. That's another thing they overlooked. He's immortal.

Besides he's much faster than Vegeta and he's strong enough to lift an overturned truck with ease. He also has more Chaos attacks than were shown in the video.

When characters use Chaos Emeralds, they need rings to maintain their super forms. Machines don't have such limits. The Eclipse Cannon is a star-piercing planet killer weapon designed to harness the power of the Chaos Emeralds. It was designed by the same guy who created Shadow.

Super Shadow took on a god, Solaris, and helped defeat it.

In the Sonic X tv show, when Shadow took off his inhibitor rings, his power increased so dramatically that he was able to obliterate an entire fleet of enemy ships.
